What Locals Say about Lower Haight

  • Trulia User
"I don’t leave in the mission but it’s a30 min walk and it’s always nice. Except the mission at that street is alway dirty "
  • Shelly S.
"Near a dog park. Pet supply store too. Lots of dog owners. What’s not to like? Cannot have them off leash until the park. "
  • John B.
"Quick access to market st for muni or bike routes downtown, easy commute. Easy access to the freeway as well"
  • Kristin R.
"Much cleaner/quieter than Upper Haight, but still a lot of dive bars & a younger scene with some families & older folks. More diverse than most areas which is refreshing. Cole Valley is more of the “yuppie’ family area if you’re looking for cleaner streets, very safe & kid friendly restaurants/streets to bike on etc."
  • Belen
"N Judah takes me 30 minutes to get to my downtown office. Pretty fast if you start early enough. Slows down if you go closer to 9AM"
  • Jamilawrence
"Duboce park, awesome Halloween on Haight street, art walks, music nights in various cafes, dog parades."
  • Jill W.
"There’s a dog park close by, Duboce Park, and the Panhandle is a short walk away. There are also a few cafes with sidewalk seating that’s dog friendly. "
  • Jill
"Residential feel while still being close to restaurants, Market and transit. Great, central location "
  • Kyle S.
"Down to earth people and dog park. Plenty to walk to and centrally located. Highly recommend living in this area"
  • Charles G.
"There are community events at nearby Duboce Park and Harvey Milk Center, such as art exhibits and the Dogfest fair. "
  • Charles G.
"Great dog park nearby and friendly neighbors, but close to fun restaurants in Lower Haight. Not the greatest public transit though"
  • Yunna C.
"Obviously there are Duboce dog park and Alamo square around, so many people bring their dogs around and so nice each other Such a great neighborhood to have a dog"

"I have lived in Hayes Valley for more than 10 years and its great. Its really the center of San Francisco. Check it out for yourself!!!!"
  • sfpropertyrent
"One of the best places to live in San Francisco due to its proximity to MUNI and the freeways. Shopping is so close and the diversity of the people make up a new mixture of mission-castro-nobhill. We call if very liveable......"
  • "I've lived in lower haight since 2002 and it started out hip and cool and has just continued to get more interesting, and fun to live in. It has a great mixture of nightlife, cafes, parks, beautiful housing, great transit, a gregarious stream of bicycles along the wiggle and a good mixture of inner urban singles, dog owners, and familes. Check out haighteration if you want a blow by blow description, but I couldn't recommend any other part of the city more highly. It's geographically centered with easy freeway access, a the pan handle if you want to bike to golden gate park, or walking distance to castro, church, hayes valley. Wouldn't live anywhere else."
