I am a parent of a child who is autistic, second day of leaving my child at the school at the front door with no one there to guide them inside the classroom. That worries me as it is day 2. Day one we were able to drop off our child to class directly, you think a 5 year old knows where to go? On the day of meet the teacher, they started late- okay, needed to get people settled in. Then we go over title something and maybe attendance but it was more of funds per student, seeing qualifications of all personnel which is new to me because when I worked as an attendance clerk back in 2017-2021 I never had that. They rush through many parts of that night, it was so disorganized where they did not let certain age groups go ahead first to their respective destinations and everyone was everywhere making it hard for those with disabilities like myself to manage. They I think are understaffed because I saw the assistant principal helping at the desks where parents were getting their students classroom information to “meet the teacher”. When I went to get mine, I got the wrong class the first time and had to go back to the office again to get the correct one. I understand there was an issue with registering my. Hold on a class not that I had not completed registration because I did, twice, serious lack of understanding or knowledge or even communication at that school between support staff, maybe even teachers who don’t know and are depending on support staff for direction. That trickles down the line to our kids. I’m considering taking my child out and put some place else. Maybe it might go better but it’s a risk I have to take down the road.

Alot of bullying going around and bringing it up to the principal or teachers doesn't resolve anything.

Everything rises and falls on leadership. When dysfunction becomes widespread you need to examine the leadership system producing or permitting them. One of the biggest warning signs is a sudden cultural change after a leadership change. This is what is happening right now. The school was run very well for years. Now with the leadership change there is increased turnover, new disciplinary practices, communication problems, inconsistent expectations, and declining morale. Small problems and issues that could have been handled early aren’t addressed until they become emergencies. Communication is one-directional. Leadership with talk at you rather than with you. Questions are treated as challenges to authority rather than attempts at understanding. This is what communication failure looks like under poor leadership, and this is what happened to me. I was given a conclusion without explanation after repeatedly asking for more information. I asked for clarification and received vague answers. Healthy communication is two-way. Instead of answering my questions, leadership became defensive, dismissive, controlling, and confrontational. I still do not understand what happened to my children while they attended this school, which is why I removed them immediately after realizing the poor leadership change.

SMG lacks the resources and curriculum needed to deliver the quality education families are promised, and parents are routinely expected to fill the gaps with their “time, talent, and treasure.” More concerning, serious student safety and behavioral issues are not handled appropriately. Families are left fighting to have legitimate concerns addressed, while school and diocesan leadership fail to take meaningful action or accept accountability.Some teachers are excellent, but several lack the experience or academic credentials you would expect. These shortcomings become increasingly difficult to overlook as students get older.The school continues to benefit from a reputation built on past accolades that no longer reflect the current experience. Enrollment “growth” through vouchers does not necessarily mean students are thriving, particularly when it does not account for the number of dedicated families who have chosen to leave. Families leave for a reason.We do not recommend this school.

Complete Neglect of Student Health, Safety, and Medical Needs..I have officially pulled my son from Uplift Summit International Preparatory indefinitely due to systemic, intentional neglect by the staff. Parents need to be aware of what is happening behind closed doors at this campus.1. Staff Are Starving Students and Restricting Packed LunchesMy son has a severe, diagnosed food aversion that we have worked through therapy to manage. Because of his extreme pickiness, I explicitly communicated his needs to his teacher at the beginning of the year. I packed him a specific lunch every day with foods I knew he would eat (including Lunchables, fruit, and protein shakes) to ensure he didn't starve. I also requested they place a school lunch tray in front of him daily to help him see what other kids were eating to encourage him.Instead, he came home crying and starving every single day. When the school finally allowed parents to visit for lunch, I attended twice. Both times, staff actively stopped my son from eating his packed lunch, telling him it was "snack food" and refusing to let him eat it. Furthermore, his school account proves they completely ignored my request to provide a tray—they haven't put one in front of him since August 12th (the second day of school). They are quite literally dictating what children can eat at the expense of starving them.2. Total Disregard for Medical and Allergy ProtocolsMy son suffers from severe seasonal allergies that worsen from Fall to Spring. The school playground is purely dirt that gets kicked up all day. I provided boxes of KN95 masks and explicitly instructed his teacher that he must wear one during recess for his health. The staff completely ignored this medical necessity. They took zero responsibility, leaving my 5-year-old child entirely on his own to remember his mask.The adults at this school have shown an unacceptable lack of accountability for basic child welfare, safety, and medical accommodations. If you expect a school to keep your child safe, fed, and healthy, do not send them here.
