"This area is clearly declining as is evident in the aging homes wanting renovation and upkeep. There is little else here in addition to the history in the name - schools, transportation, sanitation services, parks, things one would expect from a prime neighborhood are lacking. "

"You have to really look hard into the schools. All districts are not created equal and this is NOT one of the better ones. As for the neighborhood itself, each block has a different personality. One block may be safe and if you go 2 blocks away, it’s dangerous. Check the Citizen app to see which to avoid."

"The history of the architecture of some of the homes are beautiful. You have some gorgeous Tudor homes and quaint, quiet streets in some areas. Also, many famous African-Americans have lived in this area. There are still many, hardworking folks and families who live here. I hope the neighborhood will become safer over time. It takes a community to make it happen. "

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageJust moved in the neighborhood and was looking for school close to home . I saw PS 136 and despite the bad reviews I still enrolled my family members . Disappointed and angry is an understatement with one of the kindergarten teacher along with the 3rd grade teacher not forgetting the principal. They do not take responsibility for their actions when they messed up . The principal C.Q have no etiquette for a leader and it is very disappointing. Her along with her fellow teachers do not know how to be professional and I hope it change sometime soon. It is only because of transportation or else I would have choose to withdraw my family member from this school. I hope the DOE looks into them and their unethical behavior!Other Review2y ago4 Reviews - Montessori Progressive Learning Center

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI would give this school 0 stars if I could. I heard so many great things about Montessori Schools and was excited when we got the acceptance letter. The school began calling me in July to fill out paperwork. I brought in the documentation they needed. I even went in with copies for them to keep. One of ladies at the front desk told me that she needed to make copies herself so I let her do so. I spoke with the director afterwards to ask her a question and she seemed very lost and didn't have any answers. The next two weeks I kept getting phone calls from them congratulating me again for our acceptance and that I needed to fill out an application for my 2 children. I became annoyed because I had already filed out the paperwork and handed everything in. As this school year was approaching, I get another call from them stating that they didn't receive a copy of my child's birth certificate (when I watched the lady make copies of all of my documentation weeks before). They misplaced my child's birth certificate! Clearly I was upset and I stated to them, "how am I supposed to trust you when you are misplacing important information? They lady on the phone got an attitude with me for being upset. It was actually that same exact woman who was on the phone with me who made copies of my child's birth certificate and lost it. She did NOT apologize for HER mistake instead she continued on to give me attitude over the phone. I then decided that I did not want to do this back and forth with them so I let my husband handle everything. He has made multiple trips to the school and all of a sudden they're missing MORE documents from us. He's gone back with whatever missing documents they needed and every time he went in he asked them if they have everything they needed? They said multiple times that they would call him to let him know and not once have they called back. He had to drive up there many times to check in to see if they had everything they needed from us. They told us that we needed to have our pediatrician state any dietary restrictions we have (which we had her do) so that they can have the chef send in an alternative meal for them once school started. On the first day of school, my husband drops them off, they tell him "we can't accommodate their diet (vegetarian) so you should've sent them in with lunch". Not once did they call to tell us that BEFORE school started. My kids were so hungry when they got home and I was so upset we ended up pulling them out.Parent Review4y ago15 Reviews - True Deliverance Christian School
