"I've lived here for 25 years and it's gotten better but the roads suck here and the city takes forever to fix anything."

"I’ve lived here for two years. It is quiet and feels rural while being in the heart of the city. Everyone keeps to themselves but are friendly if met during many of the daily dog walks everyone takes. "

"Stray dogs are everywhere, dogs even sometimes jump over their own fences so you have to always be on your toes. No sidewalk and people drive crazy down the street "

"not the greatest neighborhood, kinda sketchy. many poorly kept up homes, not walking friendly. Just East of here feels safe, I wouldn't not go walking in the neighborhood, not even in the daytime"

"Encanto is full of diversity. The best place to go grocery shopping, is at Albertsons, Food for Less, or Henrys Market in Lemon Grove. Then you also have a great variety of restaurants from major chains to family owned. Can't go wrong finding what you need at nearby Walmart, Target, Sams Club, Big Lots and Kohls. Along with other smaller stores you find at strip malls. There are several parks nearby that are nice and one even has a lake you can run around on a dirt track. Plenty of San Diego School District schools to choose from. Only thing about transportation is that you have to walk a bit before you get to a bus stop or to the trolley station on Massachusetts. Very convenient to freeways. Quiet neighborhood surrounded by nature. It will give off a wildlife feel all around you. Crime rate very low. Great neighbors all around. Family/Pet friendly."

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe principal is nowhere to be seen from students and parents. She does not try to engage with others. My child only sees her when she is yelling at students to “behave” (ie. talking too loudly while in line). She makes students do laps during their recess for “misbehaving.” I’ve never seen her at any of the few school events offered or at award ceremonies. The rest of the admin staff in the office are unwelcoming. Other than testing and high scores, they care a lot about funding but we have no idea where that goes. They do not hold many events or fundraisers like other nearby schools in the same neighborhood cluster do nor do they encourage or allow parent involvement or PTA. There are no pizza parties or celebrations. There was only an Open House event and either another one or a Back to School even which the principal was not present at. They were supposedly going to have an event for the end of the year but that didn’t happen. The education and overall experience your child will have here all depends on which teacher they get so having a great teacher will make all the difference. My kid was lucky most years with great teachers but had a terrible year due to a horrible teacher. The main focus subjects are math and English which are why the ratings are so high. Science, history, arts, etc are considered extra and optional if the teacher offers it.Parent Review9mo ago - Encanto Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSo far I have not had a good experience with this school. They never watch the kids. Never get informed anything about my child unless it’s something they can’t get away with. Excuses are always made instead of solving the issues.Parent Review2mo ago - The O'Farrell Charter School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageO'farrell school is a great school, what I like the most is that teachers are dedicated to learning the student, and they do not have saturated classes, which means that teachers can pay attention to each of their students, both in primary, secondary, and high school, and above all they prepare them very well for the university.Parent Review1y ago - Masoretes (The Masters of Tradition) School
