"It’s the epicenter of diversity. There are so many beautiful cultures within the city. It’s so easy to try something new every day."

"My area has public transit, so it’s easy to get around. I drive myself where I need to go, and I work in commerce, so it's only a 22-minute drive, even with some traffic along the way. "

"El sereno is not a safe area anymore like before. So many homeless, plus a shelter for homeless in the area has helping for the crime to increase. "

"It’s definitely a lot more peaceful than the inner city. It’s a quiet area with a lot of hard working families. "

"it's a small but tight community everyone has respect for each other and looks out for one another the police here are terrible they look at anyone with tattoos and try to run up on them for no reason "

"Similar to South Pasadena, but more affordable. Convenient location. Usually a quiet neighborhood. Only complaint is excessive fireworks year-round. July 4th is unbearable. "

"There’s a lot of coyotes that eat small dogs it happens a lot here. If your dog gets out your property it might get hit by a car and they won’t stop so keep your dogs inside "

"It is Very Hard to walk in the neighborhood with all dogs barking in front yards. You would have to go to a local park to walk easily."

"You must walk down a steep hill before really being able to get out of the neighborhood. There are always cars coming up the hill and it’s quite dangerous."

"I have lived here for almost 20 years! The changes are amazing and continue to get better! I have incredible neighbors and there is a beautiful new park at the end of my street! Can’t wait to see what the next 20 years bring! "

"I’ve been living here for 2 years now & it feels like a safe neighborhood being next to the hospital, patrol cars are everywhere. For the months of June and July the nights are loud bc of people nonstop setting off fireworks, but it’s whatever. The train horn is so loud. Lots of ice cream trucks coming by in the afternoon, so your kids in luck if he’s got a sweet tooth "

"Annual Christmas, Cinco de Mayo, and 4th of July parades are nice. Usually there’s fireworks at El Sereno Park for the 4th of July as well. "

"It’s closer to downtown but takes longer to get there in the morning on the week days. I live in Hollywood for five years and it was faster to get to downtown."

"El Sereno makes it very convenient to commute in any direction. The following fwy’s are about 5mins away 10fwy, 101fwy, 5fwy, 110fwy, 710fwy. Public transportation is also available, union station is close by. Downtown is a 15min drive. "

"They wouldn’t like walking trained dogs that constantly get barked at by other untrained loud anxious dogs in the neighborhood due to the owner’s not taking care of their pets. "

"It’s decent. Since the 10 , 710, 5, and 60 freeways are close by, I can easily get anywhere I need to go. The only negative thing is traffic. But that’s becoming a daily part of life. I work in la puente. I can get there in a little over 22 minutes with no traffic. The ride home is almost the same. "

"There are a lot of gangs and a lot of noise and drugs in EL Sereno if you live here you need to live in the hills and make sure you're not close to a Valley where the noise will travel up"

"Most parts are family friendly. However, there seems to be more homeless people looking through the trash and camping on the corner of Brawley & Valley. It makes walking your dog in the late afternoon a not-so-pleasant experience. "

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a true community school with teachers who have been committed to Farmdale for decades. Our new principal Mrs. Maldonado is wonderful. My daughter is now in second grade and every teacher has been truly exceptional, and the staff is kind and organized. Even with Covid having interrupted school for my child since kindergarten, this still feels like a tight knit community. We couldn’t be happier and can’t wait for our toddler to become a Hawk!Parent Review4y ago8 Reviews - Huntington Drive Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have been so happy with our experience at Multnomah. The principal, Mrs. Melgar, is dedicated and engaged, and everyone from the office staff to the teachers is the same. There is only one teacher I've heard negative things about, but thankfully we've never had her. All of the others truly seem to love and support their students. There are 2 magnet programs at this school, in addition to the neighborhood school - Environmental Science and the Gifted Magnet. In addition, students from all 3 programs have opportunities to participate in student council, orchestra, dance team, STEM/eSports club, and other after-school enrichment. There is also a Beyond the Bell after school program on site. We couldn't be happier, and look forward to having our other children attend in the future.Parent Review5mo ago19 Reviews - Murchison Street Elementary School
