"Takes too long to get to the highway. There is usually some type of construction, pipeline needing fixed or maintenance of some kind that ends up creating more traffic than we already have. "

"I don't see a lot of children playing around us when we walk, but we only go when it's almost dark. Not everyone drives at low speeds through the neighborhood streets. The park has a very nice playground. Lots of adults walking dogs."

"While no fast, the public transportation is reliable. I am a short distance from Forest Park, the Botanical Gardens, and the city center and only a 12 minute drive from work. "

"Good neighbors. Stores nearby and near all major highways. The police station, fire house, YMCA, and several schools are only a few blocks away. It’s quite. "

"Quiet, clean. Lots of dog-walkers, some young families, and some families who have lived here for 20+ years. Conveniently close to parks, bike lanes, restaurants, shopping, historic districts, etc. Benefits of urban living but with much more peaceful surroundings. Great neighborhood!"

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOverall we found this school to be just okay. The related arts offerings left a lot to be desired - art class was mostly coloring sheets, PE class was just tag and sometimes they "watched a yoga video on YouTube" according to my kids, music class was non-existent. I felt like my children's academic needs weren't being met and they did A TON of screen time during school. A lot of teacher turn over and inexperienced teachers. We stayed for two years and eventually transferred my children to a different school. We are much happier at our neighborhood SLPS school.Parent Review8mo ago9 Reviews - Kennard/Classical Jr. Academy

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy children have totally blossomed at Betty Wheeler CJA (formerly known as Kennard CJA). We transferred from another school and have been blown away. Many teachers have been working there for more than 5-10 years. There is a dedicated staff, great PTO, and great principal. There's many related arts options (drama, Spanish, Chess, art, music, PE, library). The playground has great mature tree cover. Beautiful building in a lovely neighborhood. We love Betty Wheeler!!Parent Review1y ago8 Reviews
