I’m a parent of a 7th grader and a 4th grader at Walt Disney Magnet School and we’ve had such a great experience here! The school really goes above and beyond to make sure students are safe and cared for. I've read the previous review about safety, we've had a very different experience. The administration team communicates any incidents that arise immediately and have been very transparent. Communication with families is always clear. I truly feel comfortable every day knowing my kids are in good hands.The academics are excellent, challenging but very supportive. My 7th grader has been pushed to think critically and take ownership of her learning, while my 4th grader is building strong skills and a real love for reading and math. In 7th grade, my child participated in engaging activities such as a mock trial in reading class. The class dressed up as their assigned role and role played a trial. She also enjoys the hands on labs in science. My 4th grade son participated in a book buffet. He made a diorama and included a written response about the book he was reading. Parents were invited, it was really cool to see all of the finished projects. The teachers are amazing and really know how to keep students engaged. What I love most are all the fun, meaningful activities that make learning come alive. My daughter loves the drama club, which gives her a creative outlet and helps her build confidence. Recently they both participated in a move a thon. My son was excited to share how fun it was that they got assigned to walk with their buddy. The school pairs older students with younger ones to participate in fun activities. It really builds a sense of community across the grades.Overall, Walt Disney Magnet is a wonderful school, it’s safe, offers high academics, and really includes many fun activities for children and adults.. My kids are excited to go to school every day, and as a parent, that means everything!

Goudy is one of those amazing neighborhood schools where the teachers, staff, and leadership truly care. You feel it at every school event and from the kids who are genuinely excited to go to school there every day. It's one of the most culturally and racially diverse schools in the entire CPS system, and they prioritize the needs of the community (i.e., they actually welcome newcomers and immigrants, unlike other area schools that have turned them away and placed an over emphasis on teaching kids to test well rather than creating engaging and healthy learning environments that help all community members). The school was also just awarded a "Top Magnet School of Excellence" status by Magnet Schools of America, and was just one of three schools in the entire state to achieve this recognition—proof that academics, alongside of healthy learning environments, are equally prioritized here. As others have said, the school also has many amenities and programs that other schools of its size do not (tech lab, 3D printers, two full size gyms, rock band / battle of the bands, music class, drama class, a full size library, etc.). Overall, we have been extremely happy with our choice to send our kids to Goudy, and highly recommend other parents in the area look into this under-the-radar gem as well.

Horrible, I now understand why they have low test scores and a problem with teenagers joining gangs and quitting school. The administration is completely incompetent and couldn't manage a McDonalds.

Mccutcheon Elementary school provides and tries their best with students. They have a bond with their children that most schools do not have. They care or their student as if they're are their own, the teachers and staff also understand that most students have home problems. My child went to this school and had perfect grades, as my child grew older she's only progressed. When we talk and the topic of school comes up, she wishes she would've stayed here a while longer than she did. I thank every teacher and staff for caring for my child and her education.

We had a very positive experience at this school. Would recommend this school. I love how communicative the teachers are. They provide key updates on how your child does and establish a 1:1 connection with the parent. The teachers are very caring and approachable. They are always open to addressing our questions and special needs. They also have an indoor gym which is a great way to engage kids in physical activity especially during cold winters!

Worst place to send your child. They will destroy the students self esteem and only believe either their way or go away. Their attitude is a mini dictator. All their teachers attitude toward parents is unbelievable. It makes you to think, where you in some undeveloped country. Glad I made a decision to remove my son soon.
