"It’s a very pet-friendly neighborhood. There are lots of impromptu sidewalk doggie play dates. Everyone cleans up after their dog. There is easy access to Rock Creek Park"

"Lots of great walking routes. Easy access to rock creek park. Small neighborhood parks. Some traffic though on Connecticut. "

"Lots of stairs and hills can be hard on older dogs or dogs with health issues. Otherwise, great neighborhood. "

"There are dogs everywhere. Super dog friendly. The only downfall is no real dog parks near by. But there are great walking trails and hikes. "

"My Family has lived here since 1938. We have a 3 rd generation home. Nice big yard for dogs. My neighbor has a pool. We just had an ally party. My next door neighbors have lived there since 1976. We have Cherry trees that line our street. Old azaleas everywhere."

"The pop up farmer’s market on Connecticut is a great addition to the shopping options. I don’t do any other community events aside from visiting local restaurants/shops. "

"12 miles and 30 minutes I cross Chain Bridge and work in Arlington. Very safe route and no main Beltways or Highway. I go against the traffic."

"Great access to public transit, but I work in Rockville, so I drive. Not a bad drive out of the city (Connecticut right to 495). "

"I’ve loved living here. I’ve been here 2 years and it’s been great. It can be a little bit more expensive than other areas, but this neighborhood is worth it. I moved here right out of college without a great job, but even when I was tight, I appreciated the proximity to Rock Creek, great affordable restaurants, and the metro. "

"Great place to live especially if you have kids or if you are retired. We were lucky to move here from a similarly great neighborhood in Chicago."

"I live in a condo building. Unfortunately, we don’t have community events. We do enjoy the farmer’s market every Saturday. We have parks at walking distance and the zoo. "

"Lived here for 5-6 years - it’s the cleanest, most “neighborhood” type place in dc. You walk to the bank and they know your name... everything is on one block - drug store, pet store, restaurants, cleaners, grocery store, bank, liquor store, clothing shops, coffee shops, bike shop etc. lots of trees and relatively zero crime. It’s a very clean cut part of dc tons of dog parks, parks, schools, trails, jungle gyms, etc. this neighborhood is bad for only two reasons - one it’s extremely gentrified - two it makes all other neighborhoods seem inadequate in convenience and cleanliness "

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe moved back from Europe specifically so our children could attend Eaton Elementary. The recent renovations have created a beautiful, modern learning environment, but what truly makes Eaton outstanding is the people. The teachers are skilled, caring educators who know each child as an individual. The staff are warm and competent, creating a supportive atmosphere throughout the building. The afterschool program is well run and very convenient. The parent community is equally impressive. Families are engaged and supportive, and the HSA goes above and beyond to enrich the school experience through their dedication and hard work. Our children are thriving here in every way—academically, socially, and emotionally. Eaton is everything we hoped for in an elementary school and more. We couldn't recommend it more highly.Parent Review3mo ago39 Reviews - Hearst Elementary School

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt could be a good school however it is not. Parents are able to come on the school grounds and discipline students that are not their own students. There is limited diversity and plenty of unfairness and inequity here. Some teachers hold back students recommendations for months on at a time. Some students are able to get away with things. Some voices are heard while other voices are ignored. There is fairness at this school. There is plenty of inequality at this school.Other Review1y ago24 Reviews - Washington International School - Tregaron Campus

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI agree with comments that the diversity at the school is geographic and not with regards to socioeconomic and racial backgrounds. The school's IB program is top-notch and unparalleled. The previous comment about students not being able to speak the language is more a reflection of that parent's own child than the quality of the education at WIS. Many of the students go on to great universities around the world, including in countries where students have learned their second language (i.e. in France, Spain, Holland, etc...). Decades after graduating from WIS, students still retain global friend and professional networks that cannot be found at any other school in the DC area- let alone in the United States. If you want your student to have an international education and culturally diverse upbringing, send them to WIS.Parent Review5y ago6 Reviews - Sidwell Friends School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs an first gen immigrant who went to Sidwell from fifth to twelfth grade, I have to say that it was a pretty great experience. While the academics are challenging, it's somewhat my fault considering I took all of the advanced classes which were offered in the upper school. Playing on the varsity tennis team was a great experience, and some of the teachers, such as Mr. Sotela and Mr. V in the MS were great in all aspects. I highly recommend that you send your child if you think a rigorous but rewarding education is what they require to flourish.Other Review2y ago11 Reviews
