"quiet area, plenty of sidewalks, and hella close to the metro and various bus stops. only real downside is that it isn’t close to an interstate access. other than that, love it. "

"I grew up in the neighborhood. DC native. it's quiet and people on the block get to know each other. If you a aware of your surroundings it's safe and walkable. Parking is getting more challenging but not impossible like some others neighborhoods"

"Nice neighborhood with many detached homes from the 20s and later. Good amenities, lots of friendly neighbors."

"I don’t like all the new people who’ve moved to the area. The new people aren’t very friendly, don’t return a ‘hello’ very often and are pompous with their pets."

"sometimes people don't clean up.behind their dogs. I've been victim to walking in dog poo and having to clean it off after I've gotten to work! Not sightly or a great way to smell walking into your office. "

"Up and coming. Mostly safe. Streets never get cleaned. Easy parking. Schools are not good. A lot of trees. "

"I’ve lived in Brookland for 21 years. Although it has a small town feel and is somewhat residential, Brookland has the red line metro to get you downtown or to NW in minutes. Also, the architecture is VERY eclectic— there are examples of every style of architecture from Victorian and Queen Anne in the 1800s to every other popular style during the 20th century and beyond. We even have the highest concentration of black architect designed houses in the US right here in Brookland. My belief is that this variation in architecture has translated into an equally varied population in the neighborhood— something for everyone! What unites us is that we all care deeply about our homes and the green space that surrounds us. Ward 5 is the greenest Ward in the city."

"Super close to metro, but lots of single family houses on big lots. Diverse residents and a good number of families with young kids"

"Close to metro. Up and coming, still not entirely there, high priced. Public schools are problematic. Some good restaurants. "

Teachers seem to have a family like relationship but taking a deeper dive one would find that there are many issues beyond the walls that start from the top.Other Review6y ago13 Reviews - Perry Street Prep PCS

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is one of the best school that my son had attended. I am so sad that he will not be attending next year because we are moving. I would like to thank every teachers, staff, principal, vice principal, for making a great impact on my son life at John Burroughs. Also, I forgot to mention about the only establish STEM elementary school in the DC area. Thank you again for your support.Parent Review7y ago4 Reviews - Bunker Hill Elementary School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe've been at BHES for two years now and it's wonderful. The principal is great and sets the tone for a truly amazing group of teachers and staff. There's a highly active PTO, extra curricular activities, and a close knit community of families that all love the school and are dedicated to making everyone successful. After our first year we decided that we're not bothering to lottery in future years.Parent Review1mo ago10 Reviews - Noyes Elementary School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMDS is by far Washington, DC best kept secret. The Staff, I cant say enough good stuff about the care, compassion and overall well being that they have for each and every child that attends this school. I'm so sad to see them close at the end of the year, because my child has learned so much in the last year and i am grateful for them! my child had challenges and they welcomed him in and turned him around and they loved him and praised him and supported him in every effort, This school is Heaven Sent and there will never be another.Parent Review11y ago7 Reviews - St. Anthony Catholic School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI left this workplace due to serious concerns about leadership, professionalism, and the overall safety of the environment. I experienced behavior from administration that made me feel deeply uncomfortable as a woman, and when I raised those concerns, I felt unsupported and that my work environment became increasingly hostile. Leadership lacks a clear vision for the school, which creates ongoing confusion among staff. Expectations are unclear, communication is inconsistent, and decisions are frequently delayed or left unresolved. As a result, the school is disorganized and poorly managed. There were also patterns of unprofessional conduct that raised concerns about student well-being. Important safety issues involving staff conduct were not addressed appropriately, contributing to a culture where concerns did not feel taken seriously. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this workplace to prospective employees or families looking for a safe, structured, and student-centered environmentTeacher Review1mo ago22 Reviews
