"I grew up in the neighborhood. DC native. it's quiet and people on the block get to know each other. If you a aware of your surroundings it's safe and walkable. Parking is getting more challenging but not impossible like some others neighborhoods"

"Nice neighborhood with many detached homes from the 20s and later. Good amenities, lots of friendly neighbors."

"I don’t like all the new people who’ve moved to the area. The new people aren’t very friendly, don’t return a ‘hello’ very often and are pompous with their pets."

"sometimes people don't clean up.behind their dogs. I've been victim to walking in dog poo and having to clean it off after I've gotten to work! Not sightly or a great way to smell walking into your office. "

"Up and coming. Mostly safe. Streets never get cleaned. Easy parking. Schools are not good. A lot of trees. "

"I’ve lived in Brookland for 21 years. Although it has a small town feel and is somewhat residential, Brookland has the red line metro to get you downtown or to NW in minutes. Also, the architecture is VERY eclectic— there are examples of every style of architecture from Victorian and Queen Anne in the 1800s to every other popular style during the 20th century and beyond. We even have the highest concentration of black architect designed houses in the US right here in Brookland. My belief is that this variation in architecture has translated into an equally varied population in the neighborhood— something for everyone! What unites us is that we all care deeply about our homes and the green space that surrounds us. Ward 5 is the greenest Ward in the city."

"Super close to metro, but lots of single family houses on big lots. Diverse residents and a good number of families with young kids"

"Close to metro. Up and coming, still not entirely there, high priced. Public schools are problematic. Some good restaurants. "

Teachers seem to have a family like relationship but taking a deeper dive one would find that there are many issues beyond the walls that start from the top.Other Review4y ago - Perry Street Prep PCS

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son and I came into PSP through the Appletree program for PK-4. He is now in First Grade and is literally the little super star of the school. The entire staff including office administration knows and loves my child. He has a personal connection with each and every one of them and they latched onto him from the moment we arrived. It's tough being a single parent but with everyone at PSP I never feel alone. Anything I may need, if it is within their will, THEY WILL do it! I know they care, love and adore my son. There is nothing else a Mom can ask for while entrusting her child to other adults. I care, they care and do everything in their power to be a support system to not only the child but the household as well. We just adjusted through the pandemic together and they were so diligent about the academic, and personal well being of their students. Now that we are back in school, they have expanded their programs and offer countless activities, FOR FREE, for their students to keep everyone engaged. I vouch for this school 100%, from Principal Crouch (Love her), to the all of the administrative staff like Ms. Short, Ms. Valant, Ms. Carr, Ms. Kathy to name just a few and especially the Teachers like Ms. Cagney, Ms. Perry, Ms. Parker, Ms Seagers, Ms. Adam's, Mr. Cole, Mr. Alston, Mr. Golden, Ms. Oliver and so many more... I have so many I could name that are all amazing! The teachers are also amazing talents as well, from singing and musical instruments to athletics to personal video performances for the students. I LOVE PERRY STREET PREP. They believe in our children and support them in every way. Definitely one of the best schools in DC!Parent Review2y ago - Burroughs Education Campus

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is one of the best school that my son had attended. I am so sad that he will not be attending next year because we are moving. I would like to thank every teachers, staff, principal, vice principal, for making a great impact on my son life at John Burroughs. Also, I forgot to mention about the only establish STEM elementary school in the DC area. Thank you again for your support.Parent Review4y ago - Bunker Hill Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMDS is by far Washington, DC best kept secret. The Staff, I cant say enough good stuff about the care, compassion and overall well being that they have for each and every child that attends this school. I'm so sad to see them close at the end of the year, because my child has learned so much in the last year and i am grateful for them! my child had challenges and they welcomed him in and turned him around and they loved him and praised him and supported him in every effort, This school is Heaven Sent and there will never be another.Parent Review8y ago - St. Anthony Catholic School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son has spent two years as a middle school student at STA, and we couldn't be happier with the school. I think it's one of the best kept secrets in the city. At STA your child will receive a rigorous, classic education from caring teachers who want to see your child succeed. I would recommend this school to anyone.Parent Review2y ago
