"This is a family oriented neighborhood with great schools and parks. Great variety of shops and restaurants to choose from. "

"There's a park nearby which has a great playground for kids. The students from the high school rip sound pretty fast in their cars at certain times of day though on certain streets, which can be a kind of scary time to be out walking. "

"Close to Mission Trails and the visitor center! Great hiking and running trails! Outdoor fun for everyone!"
  • Kaila T.
"A lot of neighbors seem to let their dogs bark non stop which is pretty obnoxious. Lots of trails and paths to walk them on though so it is still a great place to life with dogs. "
  • Chavez0624
"It’s dog friendly and I always see my neighbors walking their dogs of all shapes and sizes. Not much barking."
  • Micki5
"San Carlos is at the foot of Cowles Mountain, a popular hike for many San Diegans. It’s more like California of the ‘50’s and ‘60’s with ranch style homes and local businesses which have been around for years. It’s a great community in which to raise children."
  • Dainfante
"If I had kids, I would look to this neighborhood to buy. It reminds me of the neighborhoods I grew up in as a child where we could play outside and explore."

"Dogs can walk their owners to the park! The other dogs in the neighborhood usually keep to themselves and only bark sometimes. Dogs who like other dogs would be happy."

"I live, work and play in San Carlos - 40 years now. I've always felt that this community was a best kept secret and a jewel of San Diego. We are so fortunate to have Mission Trails, including the local Cowles and Fortuna mtns. to climb and play in, and Lake Murray just a stroll or bike ride away. Wonderful people, wonderful place."
