"There is always people walking their dogs or going for a run as well as people on their bikes. There are a few groups that do activities with the community. Local shops are not far are at a good walking distance. "

"I've lived downtown over 5 years, and it's pretty safe overall. Minimal noise after business hours, but events and game traffic can get noisy. "

"There is an excellent elementary school in Garfield. The families are what make the neighborhood great. In addition there are a lot of students & ASU employees. It’s close to everything downtown - arts, sports, and restaurants. Other than some transient people that you see anywhere these days, it’s a super cool mix of old & new Phoenix. "

"There is a lot of history and some charm, however with the freeways close by and the amount of alley ways that are present in about 95% of the properties; this area gets a lot of homeless, dumpster divers, gang bangers and scouts on the look out for burgarlizing homes. we have to be very vigilant when it comes to our exterior and the back of our home due to very unsafe and unpatroled alley ways."

"With supervision, kids can thrive here... I know this because I raised my own children in this area. Phoenix is an enormous city now and logic and prudence should prevail. It's super convenient and equadistant to everyone and everything in the valley! "

"There are 2 dog parks right on the corner of 3rd Ave and Culver St, plus Margaret T Hance park is usually a nice place to walk your dog as well. Dogtopia has also recently opened a facility on the corner of 3rd Ave and McDowell."

"Dog owners are irresponsible and just let theirs dogs run the streets. They turn them lose they don’t feed them they don’t groom them. They let them starve and toss them out. "

"There is a lot of car traffic and there aren’t enough dog parks nearby where dogs and run free. Also other dog owners aren’t very responsible they let unleaded dogs roam the neighborhood and poop in other’s lawn without cleaning up"

"My neighborhood has access to public transportation in the means of the city bus. Unfortunately the light rail doesn't go that far west. I drive, so I hop on the I10 and can get to the downtown area rather quickly depending on time of day. "

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageFor my college class I needed 30 hours of field experience and I choose Bethune Elementary School. The morning announcements are great motivators to begin the day. I was lucky enough to observe several outstanding teachers from Mrs. Hall, Mrs. Carthen, Mrs. Stanchik, Mrs. Washington, Mr. Cox and a few others I left out, sorry. Keep up the great work Ms. Sells and keep Bethune great.Parent Review2y ago3 Reviews - Paul Dunbar Lawrence School
