"It’s a city so not the greatest for kids but good learning experiences. I think you can make it work"

"I don’t live but I want to live here. Great area quiet. The best part is the east old town, the west old town is medium."

"A lot of dogs in the area, which is great. A lot of daytime homelessness in the area with no incidents! "

"There are multiple doggy daycares/dog salons to choose from in the area. I wish there were more Designated dog parks in walking distance."

"No dog parks. Pretty loud. Feel very closed in recently. I def like north of north way better than south of north. The triangle is way cool. Wells is great for the twenty somethings....almost unbelievable that the community has over 900 dogs and no dog parks. Sad"

"Lovely community. My husband and I have been living in old town for 5 years. Lots of great restaurants and places to hang out with friends. It is also a pet friendly community. Our dog have made many friends here. We love old town."

"You see people walking their dogs. Dog owners mingle with each other, and their dogs are very friendly and well trained. Great neighborhood for dog owners and lovers."

"There are expensive private schools. And public schools. And parks. And fast food. Not enough inexpensive grocery store. "

"Generally fine. It’s less than 4 miles so not a lot of impact. Certainly schools buses etc are challenging"

"Live here. You cannot find a better location to live in the city. 1/2 mile from lake. 2.5 miles from downtown. Walking distance to grocery store, restaurants. Great nearby schools, parks."

"Be careful, the busy streets bring additional issues for families with Kids, the public transportation is good here, but the buses seem to run relentlessly. Quite a few homeless here as well."

"The neighborhood here does have some characters that make the location less attractive. Better check out the schools here as well. Very good private schools near, public schools are hit and miss."

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAfter 20 years as an ICSJ family, it is hard to put into words how grateful we are for the incredible experience this school has given our family. Our youngest child graduated in May 2026, and while we are so proud of this milestone, we are also incredibly sad to leave a place that has truly become our second home.ICSJ is more than a school. It is a family of families, and we will always feel connected to this amazing community. Over the years, we have watched our children grow surrounded by teachers, administrators, and staff members who genuinely care about each student and their success. The administration has always been supportive, approachable, and dedicated to creating the best environment possible for students and families. The teachers go above and beyond every day, providing not only an excellent education but also encouragement, guidance, and compassion. One thing that has always stood out to us is the commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment. The security team is an incredible part of the ICSJ community, and their presence and dedication provide a level of care and protection that many schools do not have.Leaving after 20 years is bittersweet, but we are so thankful for every friendship, memory, and opportunity ICSJ has given our family. We may no longer have a child walking the halls, but we will always be part of the ICSJ family and will forever be grateful for the community that has meant so much to us.Parent Review1mo ago34 Reviews - Catherine Cook School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOurs has been a CCS family for 13+ years and has been able to see firsthand how successful the CCS community is at engaging 4-5 years old and helping them grow into confident, capable, and empathetic young adults. In early childhood, the children are nurtured and made to feel safe as they begin their educational journey. In lower school, they are encouraged to be independent, advocate for themselves, and learn how they fit in the community and in the world. In middle school, they are given the tools to think critically, challenged academically, and are guided in the high school selection process, so that they are able to choose a school that is a good fit for them. My oldest is off to college in the fall, my middle child is a freshman in high school, and my youngest is in 3rd grade. They are all thriving. My kids are all very different people and somehow CCS was the perfect fit for each of them. Each of my kids benefited from the challenging academic curriculum but also had the space and support that allowed them to explore their interests and find their unique voices. The entire community at CCS is caring and focuses on bringing out the best in each child academically and emotionally and I am so grateful that our family landed in such a wonderful place.Parent Review1y ago24 Reviews
