"Great neighborhood. Gang areas surround us but little violent crime. Mostly tagging. Parking is an issue because many parts of streets in the area are restricted and what’s not restricted is used by North Park Uni students."

"Very clean environment, mostly friendly neighbors, I would still highly praise and recommend for people to live here. On occasion you would still hear/see crazy drivers. Nonetheless I feel safe to raise my daughter in this neighborhood. "

"If you live off of Lawrence this neighborhood is bad. I leave woth my kids in the morning to go to school and there's already people drinking at my gate. Not to mention the few times people were passed out drunk in the entrance to my building. Ridgeway and Lawrence. "

"Nothing during the pandemic. A lot of restaurants and mom/pop shops. Block parties prior to 2020. Always see neighbors talking on the street and dogs being walked. Feel safe when going to and from apartment/car. Building up the neighborhood with new developments and shops. Overall, a centered, fun, easy access part of Chicago. "

"Love this neighborhood and I intend on staying here! My grandparents have owned a building here for over 20 years (I’m 26 years old now) and I’ve always felt safe as a kid. It’s a well kept, friendly, and quiet area. I live on Kolmar and there’s a new strip of stores coming in such as Five Below, Ross, Target, and an LA Fitness gym, so I’m absolutely thrilled the neighborhood is becoming even more walkable!! "

4/10Calificación de GreatSchoolsClasificación promedio de los padresHaugan is an exemplary school where students are truly accepted and inspired to become life-long learners. I truly believe that the leaders at Haugan put kids first. Each teacher promotes so much student engagement and a true ownership of their learning. The classroom communities are fostering well-rounded students who embrace learning, each other and the world around them.Teacher Revisar1y ago12 Reseñas - Hibbard Elementary School

6/10Calificación de GreatSchoolsClasificación promedio de los padresOur family had an extremely troubling experience with Palmer School, particularly in how my special-needs son was treated by both staff and administration. From our perspective, there was a clear lack of understanding, compassion, and appropriate support for his disability-related needs. Instead of feeling that the school was working collaboratively with us to help him succeed, we repeatedly felt that he was being treated unfairly and that his needs were being viewed through a biased lens. The situation became so serious that I ultimately felt I had no reasonable option other than to request an emergency transfer out of Palmer. No parent should reach the point where they believe removing their child from a school is necessary to protect that child’s emotional well-being and ability to feel safe at school. What concerns me most is that this was not simply a disagreement about teaching style or school policy. Our experience involved repeated interactions with teachers and administrators that left us deeply concerned about how a child with special needs was being treated and supported.Parents of children with IEPs, disabilities, behavioral needs, or other special-education needs should pay very close attention to how concerns are handled, document communications carefully, and advocate strongly for their child.I sincerely hope Palmer School takes a hard look at its practices, staff training, special-education culture, and the way families raising concerns are treated. My son deserved understanding, dignity, appropriate support, and a safe educational environment. Based on our family’s experience, we did not believe he was receiving that at Palmer.Parent Revisar1mo ago25 Reseñas - Volta Elementary School

4/10Calificación de GreatSchoolsClasificación promedio de los padresI'm a student here at Volta and I can say I think that Volta is a very weird and bad school. This school has very "unique" students. Half the time you'll hear kids being racist or really rude which I understand that people can't change what others say. But it's a genuine problem. And some teachers make students feel really afraid to ask for help or for more practice on work. Not to mention test scores for math and science aren't really the best. I looked at these past reviews and it's true! Staff are horrible at communication with parents. The dress code rules too, it's easier to wear clothes that have been bought TO WEAR. Nothing should affect any learning nor our grades. School is supposed to be a safe place for students. The big problem is the students. Kids will be kids but act more like your age and not immature.Student Revisar1mo ago11 Reseñas - North River Elementary School
