Our school consists of a diversity of language learners. The majority of the students are Spanish speakers that are learning English. The ambiance is of a quality of education that is fueled by the teachers eagerness to teach explicit student centered instruction. It is difficult for the students to learn a new language at a rapid pace. The teachers work diligently along side of the administrators and parents to establish a community of students that pride themselves in their learning. I like the fact that the students, parents, and staff work together to meet the students' needs. We could improve the school by building a foundation that allows parents to participate fully in the understanding of common core standards and how they will be utilized within the school to assist the development of each learner.

im a current student at waterfront elementary. I wouldnt recommend this school to anyone AT ALL!! they suspended a kid in my grade knowing he didnt do anything wrong, what happened: some 8th grades put some firecrackers in his backpack while he went to the bathroom, when he picked it up it opened and fell and firecrackers came out. he got suspended the day of the field trip that he badly wanted to go too. they refused to check the cameras because it took "too long" to check them. they check one clip of the boys putting the firecrackers in his backpack but thought it was a set up. the suspended the him for a week and the boys that put it in his bag for only 2-3 days. keep in mind that the kid from my grade is in 6th grade and the boys that put the fire crackers in his bag were in 8th grade and even ADMIITED that they did it.
