"The town is small and beautiful, sometimes it is too small because everyone knows each other. It is a very safe place to live."
  • Adevman
"It’s a great town for dogs. There are plenty of places to walk and curb your dog. It’s a very dog friendly town. "
  • Mariadudeck
"I live by a state park and can bike there with my family on a bike path. I can also launch a kayak around the corner of my house. Local family restaurant within walking distance. "
  • Taylorcommacarlos
"When we all have our noses in other peoples business. Cops swarming the island like sharks in a fish tank, celebrated daily."
  • Paonessa59
"There are many families with young children and everyone owns a dog. A few playgrounds but few parks. Not too much recreation for the youth."
  • Rochelle T.

"Hectic... Driving over the bridge during rush hour can be a nightmare. It would help immensely if they removed the grand island tolls, altogether."
  • Josephkm3
"People keep to themselves. I have two sets of good neighbors. But I got lucky! There are a few kids playing basketball on my street. But these kids on the Island play inside a lot."
  • John Howlett
"Seems like there are many dogs around and no seems to mind. Grand Island is a huge Island with only 20000 people it is not densely populated."
  • Adrienne R
"some northern parts of the island you'll notice no street lights. not in a creepy way, because honestly theres not much crime here, but because of it you can see the stars at night so much better. it has a sense of community. there is no "bad area" of Grand Island. "
  • Sarah R.
"People come to this neighborhood for trick or treating! Lot's of great neighbors & kids, walk to bike path and elementary school. Minutes from the highway!"
  • Pxstorm
"I've lived here since 2007 and have enjoyed life on Grand Island. My wife and I along with our two children have grown so attached to this town that we decided to purchase a home here. The schools are very good with faculty to seem to care about each child's development. The center of the Island has much to offer in terms of grocery, pizza, smaller stores and private businesses. You'll have to drive off the Island for some of what you need, but the tolls (currently) are discounted for residents. In ten minutes you can be in Buffalo or in Niagara Falls. Beautiful area and spread out. Love it here!"
  • Mle830
"Located between Buffalo and Niagara Falls. You have to pay a toll to get onto the Island (resident discount). No shopping to speak of and limited restaurants. Absolutly no entertainment unless you like theme parks. Taxes some of the highest in NYS. On a good day you can smell the chemical operations from Niagara Falls and Tonawanda. One of the sights you see as you leave the Island south is a small mountain (landfill). "
