"The streets are pedestrian friendly, but I don’t see many kids outside playing, unless it’s at a playground. "

"Busy streets, but easy dog walking and plenty of grass for them to do their business. "

"There are a lot of people in this neighborhood with dogs, always on leashes. I never see anyone not pick up after their dogs, neighbors and those walking by love to greet your dog, and you can typically find a water bowl at someone’s steps."

"I lived by Town and Country golf course and I loved it. Everything you need is very close by and easy to get to. The neighborhood is nice, well maintained and is surprisingly quiet. "

"Unsafe to walk alone at night especially closer to university. Its just fine around the schools, but other places in Merriam are not safe alone. Lock your cars or your stuff WILL get stolen. "

"There are a lot of sidewalks and lots of green space. There are several blocks that aren’t busy where cars aren’t zooming by. There aren’t too many public trash cans, so carrying poop bags could get tiring."

"Lots of community neighbor and business supported get togethers. Community involvement is great and neighbors seem to know each other more than in other places I’ve lived."

"The commute is fine. It’s pretty much in the middle of the city, so it isn’t too bad wherever you commute to. "

"And restaurants. Keeps getting better. Gas and groceries within a mile. Center of the twin cities! Everything is close at hand, helps to have a vehicle, but bus lines are ⎌handy."

"There isn't a whole lot of green space, and I'm not really sure about the quality of the local schools."

"Not bad to mpls at all, about a 7 minute drive. Lots of food and shops in the area. Great neighborhood for trick or treating. Not many parks in the area however it’s always been nice walking. "

"I work from home so I have no commute. Very easy area to get around though with it being in close proximity to so many major roadways."

"Easy freeway access and close to mass transit. Roads are in tough shape but looks like Ayd Mill will finally be repaved. Commute to both downtowns is approximately 10 minutes. The neighborhood is very socioeconomically diverse which is pleasing. "

""Flamingo Fridays" where neighbors host happy hour memorial day to labor day. Whoever has the flamingo displayed in their front yard is hosting."

"Dog walkers everywhere, the greenway on Summit is a great place for a walk. They open the town and country club during the winter as a recreation and dog park, which is amazing. Just don’t tell too many people!"

"I have lived here all my life and I’ll be 60 in a month. I love the neighborhood and all the Catholic Church’s and this is what communities look like! You know your neighbor’s and there friends. And the back yard parties with family and friends. I love this community, the children and all the College kids!!"

1/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe experience overall last year was perfect. Now the teacher is just plain lazy and the Principal doesn’t care. Do not send your child to this school.Parent Review6y ago8 Reviews - Jean Lyle Children's Center

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe can’t say enough about Jean Lyle. It is just an absolutely wonderful place for children. The teachers are so experienced, kind, and approachable. I can tell (as a teacher myself) that the units have taken years to develop. The space is huge with plenty of opportunities for kids to move around, get the wiggles out, and work on gross-motor skills, and there are so many creative and fun ways to work on fine-motor skills. The other families are wonderful as well. My daughter loves going here, and we are so grateful.Parent Review1y ago14 Reviews - St Marks School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThere is so much positive here. The top 20 character-building program is excellent. The teachers are able to have a real impact as class sizes are so small and, frankly, every staff member and teacher in the school knows my kids. One of my boys has special needs and even though the counselor is there just one day a week, he gets far more one-on-one support than he would at a public school. I like that parents are invited to be very active. This is a school but also a community, and parents have stepped up to help me and my kids on many occasions. No school is perfect for all, but this school is an excellent fit for my two boys.Parent Review7y ago16 Reviews
