"I wouldn’t recommend living here, there’s mice and roaches. Terrible laundry, just ghetto and can’t get rid of the rodents or bugs, even tho they sprayed everyday"

"Lots of great parks nearby. Can go hiking by the river and Minnehaha Falls, which also has the best dog park in the city."

"It’s largely dog friendly. A few crabby people, but lots of dog lovers. It’s very walkable, safe, and beautiful. "

"Family friendly neighborhood with vintage charm and a convenient location. Walk the Minnehaha Mile and find unique items in its many vintage shops. Catch first run movies on the cheap at Riverview Theater, then head across the street to Riverview Cafe for lunch and a latte. Did I mention the coffee shop has its own play zone for toddlers? And next door is a wine bar for dinner. (Date night, anyone?) Take the family on a walk or hike at Minnehaha Park (with trails, creek, waterfall, picnic areas, 4-seater bike rentals and dog park). Then snag some dinner on the outdoor patio at Parkway Pizza or Howe Daily Kitchen, followed by ice scream at Minnehaha Scoop or Dairy Queen. This neighborhood has it all."

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is not what it seems. Beware of any school where the tours are like a drive-thru McDonalds. You don't get to really dwell and see the quality of instruction. Teachers very old school at the front of the room. Not progressive by any stretch. The environmental is trivial or almost non-existent. It was there for a few years and was really a great part of the day. Now it's gone rather mysteriously. They had this incredible greenhouse and that is not running either. Lots of smoke and mirrors about kids going outside, blah, blah, blah. They don't go out much. Kids are sequestered in their rooms- hardly mix with other classes. Bummer for the kids. Principal and other administration are routinely rude and dismissive to parents that are not valuable to them. It's pretty white bread. I would not put my child there if you value creativity, academic excellence, joy of learning. The place exudes a stay away vibe. Notice the windows to classrooms are papered over. Vice principal is absolutely lacking in social skills. Sent me packing to a charter school.Parent Review9y ago - Howe Elementary School
