"People mind there business and very quiet that’s a good thing after a long day at work. And you want to just come home and unwind one of the best feelings I would say no Gun shots police sirens fire trucks nothing. Just a peace of mind how your night should feel Especially for the kids if you have a family "

"A very family friendly town. So diverse. So welcoming. Cheaper taxes. You still can visit Chicago on the train or drive by. "

"They would like the access to a few parks we have and animal friendly establishments. Hammond is pretty much a family oriented community and pets are apart of that."

"You most definitely need a car to live in Hammond Indiana. There is no public transportation and nothing is really within close walking distance. "

"This neighborhood is close to two major highways to Chicago and also the South Shore train line to Downtown Chicago. People used to have a since of community but a lot has changed. I hope things turn around soon."

"It’s ok in the area although things can be a bit more enjoyable to live in. I would put more restaurants in the downtown Hammond area to fill the n those vacancies "

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNot such a great shool anymore! The bullying is unbelievable. Don't worry (yeah right) nothing is being written down to back up the complaints or altercations so there is no record of bullying. After calling the school board for help they referred me back to Kenwood principal who did nothing in the first place. That is just the students, acedemics has taken a decline as well.Parent Review11y ago3 Reviews - Lew Wallace Elementary School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI cannot say enough good things about this school and its instructors. The Montessori method is an exceptional way of teaching and nurturing students. This school excels at that. The instructors take a personal interest in every child and want to see every child grow to his/her full potential. My son has not only excelled academically but his self confidence has grown as well. Further, Montessori teaches respect of oneself, others and the environment. My only suggestion would be to include more community building activities e.g. parents' night out, etc.Parent Review9y ago14 Reviews
