I have six children and over the course of the last 20 years of sending the to school I will say North Lakeland Elementary is by far the WORST. As a paren of a child with different abilities I have felt that my voice when trying to advocate for my child is dismissed. There is no real care to ensure children with different abilities are given the tools to be successful and become productive members of society as they get older and grow into young men and woman. Writing, reading and became to do simple math are all things that are necessary in every day life and if a child needs assistance in these things until they master them why not provide. I don’t care that tablets and computers are used, there are still many things throughout life that will require reading and writing by hand. To ask questions and get open ended answers about my chid’s IEP is insane. To receive an attitude due to asking questions and questioning the reasoning behind things on her IEP is not only disrespectful but also alarming that these are the people that are supposed to be caring for and teaching children with different abilities and needs. I assure you I will not stop until my voice is heard, I will never be quiet or just agree to whatever as this is my child’s education and growth. I will be taking this further than here and I will continue until things change.

This school is overrated. From day one of me going in to register my child I was met with a lazy receptionist who seemed upset someone showed up. They placed my child in the slow classes, clearly showing they didn’t review his records before making his schedule. The art instruction for my child’s chosen subject was self led with no oversight. It was not worth the drive or the 1-2 hour bus ride. Students are disrespectful with behavioral issues, teachers drinking on the job, and substitute teachers who send students home crying after making racist comments.

The school line is ridiculous , people love to skip the line because the assistant principal said it’s okay. Tired of kindergarten line skipping everyone.. I get there at 230 do you think I like seating on the line for my health.. I had a kindergarten child who went there and I had to go all the way to the back of the line. What makes that one parent special that she can skip the line .. smh.

If your child has never been bullied and you would like to keep it that way then do not send them to Winston Academy in lakeland fl. The children are not too young to bully at this school. For both of my children have been punched and choked in the restrooms of this school. If you think the principal will do something about that, your sadly mistaken. He will then tell you your feelings are valid and do nothing to these children that are causing the problems over and over so then you need to teach your child to defend themselves. If your child needs to use the restroom during class time make sure you bring a special form from your child's doctor stating they may use the restroom because it doesn't matter if your child is im ki departed or 5th grade the teachers will tell your student to either man up and hold it or tell them they have to wait until the lesson is over. So if you like the man up option for a small child and your child to be choked and hit with nothi.g being done, well then this is the school for you.

This school is sadly gone to a mess. They are not qualified to work with ese students and make it harder on the child than easier . When attention is brought to the Principal of the school of problems,those problems do not get fixed , instead they talk about the parents and children negatively when they want is a solution. School shouldn't be a place of drama it needs to be a place of learning and teaching the basics so that the child can move forward. Sadly Sleepy hill Elementary school is failing their headstart and prek classes everyday. 10/10 do not recommend to enroll any children here.
