Thoughtful, Community-Centered, and InspiringChoosing an elementary school is one of those decisions that feels big — you’re not just picking academics, you’re choosing the people and environment that will shape your child every day. For our family, Garfield Elementary School has been an incredible choice. The biggest strength is the teachers and commuity. They’re experienced, steady, and genuinely care. Many have been teaching for over a decade, and it shows. Kids aren’t just names on a roster — they’re truly known. We get thoughtful communication, real partnership, and support that goes beyond test scores.Class sizes feel human, not overwhelming. Our child gets attention, feedback, and encouragement instead of getting lost in the crowd. The facilities were recently renovated, so the facilities feel bright, clean, and welcoming. It feels like a place designed for learning and pride, not an aging building you’re trying to make work. What really sets Garfield apart, though, is the community comprised of the dual language Cantonese immersion pathway, general education, and the special education programs. This isn’t just a school you drop your kid off at — families show up. There are regular events, celebrations, and performances that bring everyone together. You quickly get to know other parents and it feels supportive and connected. We especially appreciate the school-wide community circles and performances. Kids learn empathy, confidence, and how to speak up and support one another. It creates a culture where kindness and belonging are the norm.Bottom line: Garfield feels tight-nit in the best way — caring, tight-knit, and personal — with strong academics and experienced teachers. Our child is happy, confident, and excited to go to school. We're looking forward to sending our second child there soon!Highly recommend :)
