"Always walk with your children especially across streets and close to any night clubs. Other than that it is mainly safe."

"Columbus Day, Fleet Week, and Fourth of July all center around North Beach. It has always felt very European, but now with all the parklet dining, even more so!"

"Gorgeous. There’s Washington square which is a beautiful cross section of the neighborhood. Restaurants are amazing and diverse and walkability to downtown is unparalleled "

"I walk to Market Street, and it takes about 20 minutes from Telegraph Hill. Lots of great stuff along the way like coffee and pastries."

"Great neighborhood but It’s still a city dealing with city problems. Families in the neighborhood are great."

"There are tons of lines that get you anywhere you need to go without too much walking or switching buses. Cable cars too!"

"North Beach doesn’t need much explaining. It is well know as little Italy and is in very close proximity to Chinatown where very affordable produce can be found. There are still several Italian families in the neighborhood and the restaurants are among the best in the city for under $50 per plate. There are certainly fancier areas, but this area feels authentic. Sure there are a lot of tourists and the places along Columbus cater to the tourists. Get just a few feet off Columbus and you’ll find the real North beach."

"History. Balance between neighborhood vibe and tourist/nightlife destination. Quirkiness. Hills to get home mean you don’t need a gym. It’s not for the faint of heart. "

"Getting into and out of the city from North Beach is painful. Do not recommend if you commute outside of the city. "

"I haven’t been to a community event but there is a nice park called Washington Square there that everyone hangs out at. It’s nice in the summer time to chill out there with friends. There’s a lot of small shops, restaurants, and bars to go to. You can also visit the church next to the park and it’s beautiful. "

"We have a Jeffrey’s pet store by Washington Square park that all the local pet owners frequent. The staff knows almost every dog that walks in. They’ve managed to build a very special animal loving community."

"Noisy place, especially on weekend nights, drunk neighbors don’t know how to be quiet. But this area is super convenience. Also a lots of mosquitos during September to November "

"North Beach is a wonderful little corner of the city that seems to be agnostic to the changing times. Its charm and character have remained consistent over the years, with old Italian establishments and quiet Victorian-lined streets. "

"Its history, quirkiness, and intense hills make it extremely unique - always exciting, diverse, loud, and hard to park in. "

"Movie nights after a film has been filmed in the neighborhood. For example, the movie Venom by Marvel Comics was filmed on our street and we had a free screening to the movie."

"The dog population has been booming since I've lived there. I was one of only a few dog owners in the neighborhood 20 years ago. There is a park right smack in the middle of the neighborhood and many dogs are enjoying it."

"North Beach has many good Italian restaurants and is very close to Chinatown, so you're walking distance to two great cuisines. Neighborhood street fairs are almost always a great time, with danceable music, great aromas from the delicious food, lots of arts and crafts, and sometimes a petting zoo."

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe had a very positive experience with the school for our child, who is there from kindergarten to fifth grade. We were grateful to be able to partner with the teachers and administration, and see the impact that it was making in the lives of the children. They care deeply about the children’s well-being, as well as their success. While the school has homework, it was a reasonable amount, and we appreciated, knowing what was being taught in the classroom and being reinforced at home. The school provided a warm and welcoming community, and we appreciate being engaged and getting to know all the families and children. It is a gem in the school district, and we are forever grateful that our child had the experience to attend John Yehall Chin Elementary School.Parent Review2y ago12 Reviews - Sts. Peter And Paul K-8
