"Not a very kid friendly city in general, but if you live on the outskirts of Tucson; East- Tanque Verde/Vail, North (Oro Valley), West(Picture Rocks), and far south (Sahuarita) then it’s pretty nice!"

"Not much to do for kids. Bad schools. Almost no parks in the area, side walks randomly cease. It’s 100+degrees for 2/3rds of the year. Don’t recommend "

"With a lack of concrete sidewalks (just dirt and gravel) dogs freely poop along their walks. Many (if not most) of the owners do not pick up after them. if you walk at night, take a flashlight and keep an eye on the ground. "

"There are sidewalks most places but oftentimes there will be loose dogs or cats, which makes it hard for an owner who has a less than stellar trained dog."

"You have to walk a ways to catch the bus and would not recommend walking at night alone alot of different types of people out at that time. And there are only two buses that run thru here."

"I live here and feel very safe and comfortable aside that I think some home owners whom rent out there rooms should do an extensive background check. But for the most part I really enjoy this side of town alot"

"The main things are within walking distance if I wanted to walk. Schools, stores, restaurants, banks, everything that I need or care is close by. Even my job is only 10 to 15 minutes drive thanks to I-10 that is so close"

"The area would be nice but after dark is when the real city comes out. Drug addicts, dealers, and hookers. The area look great during the day. The police are in our MHP at least 2 times a day on any given day of the week. "

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating Averagemy daughter has been here since kindergarten, no issue with her teachers from then to now. My one issue is the principal and the way he goes about discipline on bullying. Doesn't seem to be bothered much by it, he says they are kids, which I did not like that response towards the situation. Im happy with the teachers and the way my daughter has grown on them and loves them, they are 10/10!Parent Review4y ago2 Reviews - Laguna Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a teacher, and love this school! My old school was very disorganized, and I feel very cold and impersonal. The admin and teacher care about the students greatly and there are a lot of resources for all students. Wow!!Teacher Review7y ago5 Reviews - J Robert Hendricks Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school does more then I could imagine. The way they all know every child’s name and what they like, don’t like, etc is amazing. They don’t show favoritism every child has their own bond. I love this schoolParent Review8y ago7 Reviews - Robert Richardson Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI’m taken back by the score. This school should be rated a 10. What I love about the school is the community it creates. There are so many different activities that are top notch. There is choir, sports, skills for success etc. You know you have found a great school when there is little teacher turnover and the ones that retire come back in a different roles. This school creates so many fond memories for my family, from movie nights to cookies with Santa. This is a school where all the teachers know your kids name. Such a gem.Parent Review9mo ago7 Reviews - Centennial Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter has flourished since attending this school, 2nd grade, after leaving a local charter school, K-1st. She doesn't seem as drained or stressed out. The teacher has great communication so far and her principal has an open door policy.Parent Review7y ago11 Reviews - Carden of Tucson

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageCarden of Tucson is by far one of the best schools our family has been a part of. Our eldest child attended other local public schools and we found it to be overwhelming, at times disorganized and that he wasn't getting the one on one engagement he needed. With our two younger children we were able to enroll them in Carden because we wanted them to have a different experience and I can honesty say my husband and I have been nothing but impressed with the Carden experience. Teachers are caring and engaging, the curriculum is rigorous but realistic and the overall values of the school shows in the spirit found on campus. Teachers and administrative staff communicate affectively and parent/family involvement is encouraged.Parent Review9mo ago33 Reviews - Academy of Math and Science - Tucson

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe have had all seven of our children attend this school in the last four years, two children of which were wait listed and we were happy to wait for a spot at that time. The first year was amazing, we felt the children were being heard, learning well, all well above their grade levels and excited for school, even though most of it was online and I was essentially homeschooling them. The second year started getting rocky with teachers oddly leaving left and right, some even telling us in confidence to get our family out, but we were so on board that we didn't heed that advice, and our children were slowly becoming disinterested in the academics. The third year was horrible, with issues from expired or moldy food, bullying, lack of supervision, inability to hold on to good educators and the kids being "taught" directly from books and projectors, new policies put in place that made no sense, constant asking for more and more supplies but communication with the teachers became less and less. And finally onto year four with all new admin and educators, change in teachers six times throughout the year so complete inconsistency, a staff member that tells kids they can starve if they don't line up properly for lunch, multiple kids getting into fights or being physically hurt during the school day and in classrooms, lack of accountability or even care from administration (only very stale prerehearsed responses with no actual change), everything changed and the kids are begging to leave, BEGGING. And I know I am not the only parent as many parents have exclaimed the same issues but nothing ever seems to effect change at this school and that starts at the top with whoever put themselves in charge of this schooling model. This business has no place having children in there until they fix the problems that seem to be systemic and just getting worse and worse. It's really bad then the surrounding public schools are hearing all too often how bad this school is when admitting out of district students from AMS Prince.Parent Review2y ago72 Reviews
