Our experience at Meadowbrook Middle School left me with serious concerns about communication, follow-through, and the integrity of leadership.My son experienced issues that required repeated parent advocacy, including bullying-related concerns and an incident where his belongings were damaged. What bothered me most was not just the incidents themselves, but how hard I had to push to get clear answers, accountability, and follow-through.When administrators and adult staff are involved, families should be able to trust that concerns are handled honestly, documented properly, and followed up on without parents having to repeatedly escalate. Unfortunately, that was not our experience.One of my biggest concerns was the lack of honesty and consistency in communication with students. There were situations where adult staff told my son one thing, but when I followed up as the parent, the explanation changed or the responsibility was shifted back onto the student. That is extremely frustrating because children are already at a disadvantage when speaking up to adults in authority. Adults should not be able to rely on their position to avoid accountability or assume a student’s word will matter less.There were individual staff members who tried to help, and I do appreciate that. But the overall system did not feel dependable. My biggest disappointment is with the leadership culture and the lack of accountability when parents raise serious concerns in good faith.Parents should not have to fight this hard to make sure their child is safe, seen, and fairly supported.

It is a high school that offers the most AP subjects among schools in the Poway Unified School District (PUSD) and also has the best athletic program. For example, wrestling is a place where formal Olympic training is held.

My daughter has been attending Creekside since pre-K and she is now in the 5th grade. Solid school in both academics and emotional development. There is also heavy parent involvement in class room and PTA enriching the learning and fun for the children. If the school didn't have contributions of money and program/class volunteering, I don't think it would be nearly as good of a school. I wasn't too keen on the old principal but the new one seems to be much more personable and approachable. Most of the teachers are fantastic but a few may need a change of career or a break from teaching and dealing with demanding parents. I image that teaching is not an easy job and add to it some parents with unrealistic expectations. The ESS program is stellar. Facilitators are organized, kind and nurturing with the children. I have to also put in a plug for the office staff. They are so welcoming, friendly and nurturing with the children. Overall I am very happy with my daughter's experience here over the past 6 years!

The staff here do not treat people of color well. When parents asked for more representation that reflected the students who attend this school, the response was to hire people of color only for the lowest paid and least respected positions. The quality of teaching has also gone downhill. Because of these issues, I moved my children to another school in the same district. There is a lot of talk about anti racism, but it feels more like a performance than anything real. The administration may look diverse, but that is where it stops, and there does not seem to be much concern about how other people of color are treated here, whether they are students or adults. First, maybe ask teachers to stop giving dirty looks to other persons of color?! This used to be a solid, dependable school, but it is not anymore.
