Bountiful Gardens Apartment Homes

I would like to share my experience as a parent of a student at this school. I appreciate the work that many members of the staff do and the opportunities my child has had to learn and grow.However, I also want to express a concern that has caused me a great deal of pain. During this time, I have felt that there has been a difference in the way the teacher communicates with me and responds to me compared to the way she communicates with my child’s father. At times, I have felt ignored and that my voice as a mother has not been given the same importance.I cannot say with certainty what the reason is, but I cannot help wondering if my Latino background or cultural differences have influenced the way I have been treated. As a mother, my only desire is for my child to receive the same support, respect, and consideration from both parents, regardless of whether it is the father or the mother.I hope the school will listen to this concern and work to ensure that all families are treated with equality, respect, and without any type of favoritism or discrimination.

We have loved Muir for years, 5 of our children have attended over a 16 year period of time. The teachers and other other school employees have been wonderful and provided opportunities for our children to grow and succeed. This year, there is new administration and my son feels fearful and unsafe due to stringent and cold leadership. The environment of care and concern for our children that has been fostered for years, is disintegrating and I am very concerned that our kids best interest or the support of our teachers is taking a back seat to other agendas.

I have 3 children at this school. All the teachers my children have ever had are good teachers, very loving and hard working, but its a low income school with many students coming from less than perfect backgrounds. The teachers work so hard, and I've noticed they jump grades often to find good matches. I feel like the number of difficult children per class is rising almost out of control. They use lots of incentives and bribery programs which work really well for kids with misbehaviors, but its not great with self motivated kids. It's has very small rooms which limits class size.
