  • Alice R.
"It’s a residential area, so definitely safer for dog walks and romps (eg unlike a busy street in downtown)."
  • John N.
"great place to walk your dog to Oceanside Recreation Center and use of the sidewalks in the neighborhood "
  • MH
"Can’t think of any community events! There’s a lot to do I’m sure but I haven’t been to anything. It’s mostly a quiet neighborhood. "
  • Davidhenderson1
"I've lived here for 5 years. It's one of the most affordable areas left in SF. Some streets are dirty, some properties are run-down and I don't always feel comfortable walking at night. But most folks are friendly and it's a working class vibe."
  • Ashley M.
"Lots of sidewalks and parks. Slow speed limits."
  • Henry M.
"There's a backyard for every house and parks nearby."
  • Ashley M.
"Close access to freeways. Light traffic in the morning due to the high volume of schools."
  • Henry M.
"It usually takes about 40 minutes to an hour just to get downtown."
  • Ashley M.
"We have the best neighbors, parking isn't terrible, and we're close to shopping."
  • Henry M.
"City College is nearby; there are lots of college students."
  • Ashley M.
"It's safe and quiet, and there's a variety of age groups."
  • Littlebear206
"We are one half mile to Bart and one block from muni stop. The grocery is on the other side of the hill. It’s a tough walk uphill but is about 3/4 mile away. Very near mission district restaurants, easy drive, long walk. Easy access to 280. In the few years I have lived here, things are gradually but continuously improving In the area."
  • A.S.
"BART and Muni are the main transportation in this neighborhood."
  • A.S.
"People are very diverse. It's better than the rest of the city."
  • Lauren W.
"There's accessible recreation space within Oceanview and nice tree-lined streets for walks."
  • Lauren W.
"The commute is easy—a 10-minute walk to BART, then a 12-minute ride downtown!"
  • Lauren W.
"People are friendly, but it's pretty residential and there aren't a ton of neighborhood events."
  • Lauren W.
"Families everywhere—it seems like a good place to put down roots."
  • Littlebear206
"Close walk to muni, bart, ocean avenue businesses.easy access to freeways 101 and 280. Not far from the Beach and Lake Merced. Relatively Affordable single family homes with a yard and garage are available regularly for rent and sale. "
  • Mannucci g.
"Oceanview is a hidden gem in San Francisco. Walking distance to Balboa Park BART, 3 Muni light rail trains and multiple buses. Get to downtown SF in just 10 mins on BART, then escape the craziness in this quiet, scenic neighborhood with great views. Property values are starting to climb quickly as buyers realize the great value you get for your money here. "

"The Oceanview neighborhood is surrounded by Merced Heights and Ingleside comprising the OMI district. The OMI area of San Francisco is the next Mission district. There are coffee shops and shopping on Ocean Avenue and Alemany Streets. You have City College and SFSU adjacent and much of the OMI is inhabited by college students and academics who enjoy the lower rents and great views of the Bay and the Ocean from the OMI hill. There are great recreational facilities with indoor basketball, childrens programs and even neighborhood gardens. Gyms, food, and the nearby Excelsior districts provide plenty to do. Though if you prefer the comfort of a mall, Stonestown, Westlake and Lakeshore malls are a short bike ride away. Got kids? Lowell High School, the oldest and best school west of the Mississippi is located next door. Give the OMI an opportunity and it will win you over. It's still a little rough around the edges, but the potential is great and price is lower than anything else in San Francisco."
  • J M. P. C. C.
"Homes in this part of the city have a bit of a mixed reaction. On the one hand, the houses tend to be older (average for all of S.F., actually), on the other, the area is a melting pot of San Franciscans. However, if you're looking for a good house in an area that has no where else to go but UP, then this may be a good buy (at this price) -- depending on the updates."
  • J M. P. C. C.
"Ingleside or Oceanside are traditionally older neighborhoods, and houses in these communities, unless they've been upgraded or remodeled, are typically needing some attention to detail. This house seems to have plenty of character and has been tastefully cared for. With the exception of the sometimes rowdy or boisterous visitors along the main (Broad or Sagamore) streets, you're in a fairly decent San Francisco neighborhood -- a good alternative to Visitation. You've got to drive the neighborhood to determine if it will suit you and your family."
