What are the schools, restaurants and shopping like in Noe Valley?

A general and a specialty grocery store is always only a very short walk away in Noe Valley. Furthermore, those who enjoy eating out won't have to go far in Noe Valley, where over 50 restaurants and about 10 coffee shops are available, for instance on 24th Street. Residents benefit from a good number of clothing stores within walking distance. With regards to education, in Noe Valley, property buyers will generally be able to get to both primary and secondary schools on foot. Residents have the choice between public and private elementary schools.

What are the best ways to get around in Noe Valley?

Noe Valley is an excellent neighborhood for eco-friendly transportation options. This area is very transit friendly. The neighborhood is served by a few bus lines, and the nearest bus stop is generally just around the corner. Noe Valley is also very conducive to walking; all daily errands can be run on foot, and a variety of businesses are very nearby. It is challenging to commute by bike in Noe Valley because there is a significant amount of elevation changes. Nonetheless, this neighborhood has a good cycling infrastructure.

What's it like to live in Noe Valley?

Noe Valley is a "jack-of-all-trades" when it comes to the ambience of this neighborhood. This part of the municipality has numerous streets to explore. Despite the fact that there is a limited selection of entertainment venues, there are often a very large number of people around, and with its a few bars, there are options for nighttime activities. Main streets, such as Castro Street, are very good for those who enjoy going out. Most areas in Noe Valley are reasonably quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamor. There is not that much greenery in this area; more specifically, residents will find that the tree canopy coverage for most streets is sub-par. Nonetheless, there are a few green spaces nearby for residents to visit and they are especially well-distributed, which makes them easy to reach from the majority of locations within Noe Valley.

What kinds of homes are available in Noe Valley?

In Noe Valley, about 30% of dwellings are small apartment buildings, while duplexes, single detached homes, and townhouses make up most of the remaining housing stock. This neighborhood offers mainly one bedroom and two bedroom homes. There are equal parts renters and owners living in this area. This neighborhood experienced its most significant construction boom pre-1960, so most of the available housing stock is from this time period.
