What Locals Say about Central Oak Park

  • Shana Harly
"Plenty of space, clean sidewalks, & grassy areas for dogs. I’ve had three dogs through the years and have had no problems. "
  • Trulia User
"The only thing that makes me happy about this area is the craftsmanship of the houses in this area. It looks great but the area around here is not as nice "
  • Trulia User
"Nice area that is well located and easy to get around. Everything is close by, local traffic isn't as bad as other parts of the city, and people in the area are friendly "
  • Patricia G.
"Black annual fest, Juneteenth, always something at the city of refuge or at the oak park community center :)"
  • Erika C.
"n/a im just visiting but people are friendly. it don't feel alone and isolated theres people around and I like that. "
  • Aaron F.
"I just moved here to Oak Park and id say thw main issue with living here would be the lack of neighbor interaction. "
  • Emily S.
"Cars drive recklessly. Some streets use the speed bumps to help reduce that. Keep camera on your house and cars"
  • "The community is pretty bad , the schools in the area the teachers do not care about the education of the children. If you live here for at least a month you would see a few car crashes and gang related activities. A lot of people are on drugs running around and going into your yard looking for items to steal. Not a place I would raise my kids. "
  • Darnell W.
"there are plenty of sidewalks to walk your dog .as well as many dog friendly parks to enjoy within walking distance. "
  • Shana B.
"A lot of people have dogs, it’s quiet though around here. occasional bark-offs with dogs and the occasional random lost dog, but that’s about it. Good place for pups! "
  • Kelly W.
"I love that my neighbors & I all watch out for each other. It is not uncommon for a neighbor to BBQ and bring a nice size plate full of food over just to share. People can say what they want about living in "the hood", but I have never lived in a friendlier neighborhood."
  • Shirley W.
"If they're responsible dog owners they will not like the fact that so many people here walk their dogs with no leash! "
  • Tammy V.
"I live in this neighborhood for almost 2 years neighborhood is getting worse there are a lot of shootings "
