Read what parents are saying about Dower Elementary SchoolPrincipal, counselor, teachers can’t be bothered to help resolve issues with bullies pushing and punching your child. They do not return your calls. Principal emailed us stating the counselor would call us. No call ever came. They just pass it off to the next person with no resolution. This is not a safe place for your child to attend school. Wish I could give a negative star review, if any school deserves it, it’s this one
Posted by a parent on 10/30/2023My son just started at Dower this year. My experience with them has been very "fake it till you make it". They put o a great charade for the community . They always have events and fun activities going on. But the staff that I have dealt with have all been bitter and unpleasant. His teacher is a first year teacher who has no clue how to handle kids. She only communicates with me now because I have complained about her not doing so and she is extremely resistant to any feedback I've offered her on bettering my kids issues in her class. I can NOT STAND this school and I can not wait to transfer my kid to a place where they will actually take an interest in how the kids are doing and where they will work alongside the parents no a regular basis. Not just parent teacher conferences .
Posted by a parent on 2/1/2018Dower Elementary is a Kids at Hope school. We believe that all students are talented, smart, and capable of success. I'm sorry for those who have had negative experiences in the past. Our staff works hard to engage kids in meaningful learning in a respectful, responsible and safe learning enviornment. We invite families to join us in our family activities and in volunteer opportunities.
Posted by a teacher on 11/18/2013Great teachers, awful principal. My children were happy, and the teachers always made sure, that as parents we were involved. The buildings were fairly updated and facilities clean. I was not impressed with the principal. We called CPS on a separate set of parents because of some things they had done to my son, and I called the principal asking to discuss this with her. I called back several days later, and then a third time a few days after that. Not only did she not ONCE return my calls, when I asked her if she'd heard my messages, she brushed me off. I found out a while later that this parent had not only been a chaperone for 2 field trips, but had been allowed to get my son away from the other students and teachers. Fortunately nothing bad happened, but we changed schools IMMEDIATELY. Mrs Dawson doesn't take the child's safety seriously enough. She should be ashamed.
Posted by a parent on 7/26/2013UNHELPFULL! Not only was the lady extremely rude but was extremely unhelpful in answering my questions. I called about enrolling my daughter into all day kindergarden and she acted like it was sooo hard to give me information to basic questions. If thats the kind of atmosphere my daughter will be around i want nothing to do with it.

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughters have been attending Custer since day one of Kindergarten. My older is now a 5th grader and I also have a 1st grader and they BOTH LOVE IT! All the staff, from principals and teachers, to custodians and receptionist, they are all AMAZING! You can tell they all care about the well being and safety of the children along with ensuring that they are getting the education they need and deserve. I would not hesitate to enroll kids here and would recommend it to anyone and have nothing but kind words about the school and staff!!! 4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a former student, it is a great school, just a few complaints.1. Many of the staff seem to have a condescending attitude towards students who did nothing2. The new counselor seems to halfheartedly address issues such as bullying, and has even laughed at bullying reports.Other than those two problems, this is a great school to go to.Other Review4mo ago - Park Lodge Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageIt’s important to note that there is a new Principal at Park Lodge Elementary. I’ve read several reviews about someone named Mrs. Muzzulo, that sound terrible, but she is no longer there. The new principal, Mrs. DeShields, is wonderful. I’ve spoken to her several times, and she is always positive and, I think, does her best for the students. My daughter says the she even drops by the classroom occasionally to have lunch (covid year, the kids ate in the classroom) or just say hello. The teachers there are absolutely amazing. Every single one I’ve interacted with have been kind, supportive, attentive, and genuinely interested in what is best for every student. During virtual learning I’ve overheard the classes at times, and I’m so impressed with how patient, and effective they’ve been throughout this stressful year. During in person days (hybrid) every teacher I encountered during drop off and pick up, knew my child’s name, and they always had a smile on their face and a kind word.My child has never had a problem with bullying. She considers all of her classmates to be her best friends. I would definitely recommend this school to everyone.Parent Review2y ago - Manitou Park

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI attended HCS as a student from Kindergarten to 5th grade. Let's just say when I entered Drum in 6th grade I was above and beyond in all areas of academics. If you want a real school that isn't the normal hum drum lamentations of public school and actually cares about a strong curriculum, small class sizes, and family engagement in a faith based setting raising strong, critically thinking little humans; there is no better option in the UP area than HCS.Other Review4mo ago - Charles Wright Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageRead these recent reviews! Then read reviews from Palm Valley School in Rancho Mirage for the years 2017-2018. Notice any similarities? Yep, same Head of School. Additionally, there are three 5-star parent/guardian reviews in 2017 - I highly encourage you to carefully examine these reviews as well, and determine for yourself whether the language reflects that of a parent or a member of the school. Oh, and just for kicks, go ahead read the Desert Sun news article about the Head of School's behavior and subsequent lawsuit in California. Faculty and staff at Charles Wright Academy have been leaving in large numbers since her arrival, and now more and more families are leaving as well. This review is void of opinions and simply highlights facts and documented evidence of a pattern of behavior from a person in a senior-level leadership position within the private education system. Why is this happening? If enough people start asking...who knows what will happen!Other Review3w ago - Four Heroes Elementary School
