Read what parents are saying about Park Lodge Elementary SchoolIt’s important to note that there is a new Principal at Park Lodge Elementary. I’ve read several reviews about someone named Mrs. Muzzulo, that sound terrible, but she is no longer there. The new principal, Mrs. DeShields, is wonderful. I’ve spoken to her several times, and she is always positive and, I think, does her best for the students. My daughter says the she even drops by the classroom occasionally to have lunch (covid year, the kids ate in the classroom) or just say hello. The teachers there are absolutely amazing. Every single one I’ve interacted with have been kind, supportive, attentive, and genuinely interested in what is best for every student. During virtual learning I’ve overheard the classes at times, and I’m so impressed with how patient, and effective they’ve been throughout this stressful year. During in person days (hybrid) every teacher I encountered during drop off and pick up, knew my child’s name, and they always had a smile on their face and a kind word.My child has never had a problem with bullying. She considers all of her classmates to be her best friends. I would definitely recommend this school to everyone.
Posted by a parent on 6/22/2021Overall the school would receive a low rating from me. The teachers are great but are not well supported by their principal and thus the district. Complaints from the teachers must be being ignored by the district in that no effective change is being made when it's severely needed. More effective leadership and support of the teachers would make this school a far better place than it is.
Posted by a community member on 1/31/2018My daughter has went to park lodge for 2 years now and the teachers are great.Well educated and caring. But that's not the same for the principal she never smiles and is emotionless. Now my child can't go to park lodge anymore because of a boundary change . My daughter loves the school so i told the superintendent and she says that the principal knows my daughter will do just fine at her area school. Which my area school made my daughter suffer and get bullied.so i told her that and the prinipal said well all i can say is to put her on the waiting list if there's a spot open maybe she can stay.So my daughter will now have to change schools for a 3rd time. Mrs. Melluzzo is a horrible principal.
Posted by a parent on 4/18/2015It's my sons first year there and has generally had a positive time. However, when he showed up for the early morning Y care program (as he's has for 3 1/2 months currently) because he wasn't "signed in" they removed him from the gym into a hallway. If it wasn't for his generous teacher taking him with her the office staff were going to place him outside by himself, unsupervised and in the cold. When I called the principle she immediately wanted to blame the YMCA and then defended her policy of leaving a child outside. OUTRAGEOUS! So happy to know that my money goes toward feeding her and her family and keeps her warm I'm here school while she would have no problem putting a kid outside by themselves in the cold.
Posted by a parent on 12/9/2014My daughter has attended Park Lodge since Preschool. She is now a 4th almost 5th grader. The teachers are great and my daughter has excelled in every class that she takes there. The teachers are friendly and attentive to students needs. I would pick this school over any other elementary school in Washington State and have because Park Lodge is worth the time and effort that not only the students put in but the parents and teachers as well. Thumbs up for Park Lodge!

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughters have been attending Custer since day one of Kindergarten. My older is now a 5th grader and I also have a 1st grader and they BOTH LOVE IT! All the staff, from principals and teachers, to custodians and receptionist, they are all AMAZING! You can tell they all care about the well being and safety of the children along with ensuring that they are getting the education they need and deserve. I would not hesitate to enroll kids here and would recommend it to anyone and have nothing but kind words about the school and staff!!! 3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePrincipal, counselor, teachers can’t be bothered to help resolve issues with bullies pushing and punching your child. They do not return your calls. Principal emailed us stating the counselor would call us. No call ever came. They just pass it off to the next person with no resolution. This is not a safe place for your child to attend school. Wish I could give a negative star review, if any school deserves it, it’s this oneParent Review5mo ago - Idlewild Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a diverse and inclusive school. The diversity changes with each year due to the demographics of this city. They have a waiting list at Idlewild because they are well respected for both teachers and curriculum. The PTA has always been strong at Idlewild. Parents, teachers and community working together to form new citizens through education and awareness of self and respect for others. My child started here in kindergarten and continued through to college graduation and is a contributing citizen today. We were a middle class military family (now retired). My grandchildren now have the opportunity to attend Idlewild and are even luckier with the addition of the IB curriculum. No one is forced. New ideas or feelings are embraced as teaching and learning opportunities by the staff. People who feel left out need to get involved not complain on this forum. Addressing the comment I saw about Black heritage month being ignored. January was when the school was on remote learning due to covid-19 in 2020. I can assess that Latino/Hispanic heritage month was September/October 2021 and that my grandchild shared with me a few things from school on that. In Idlewild's defense it is much easier to notice awareness of the respecting of heritage during in school attendance. The school and staff were doing their utmost to give the best education to each and every child under difficult circumstances last year. Our thanks for a job well done. Teachers should not be made into surrogate parents. Idlewild's teachers give parents and each student the tools to excel. What you do at home to enhance and develop them is up to each individual family in the community. In conclusion I would add- once a falcon always a falcon "Soar to your highest level". We can raise the ratings by being personally responsible for supporting good citizens in every way as individuals, students, and community members.Other Review2y ago - Lakeview Hope Academy

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy son had a great time at this school. His teachers were very communicative and responsive to emails. Any concerns I had were addressed and I believe my son had a great kindergarten and first grade experience. We were sad to leave.Parent Review5y ago - Tyee Park Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is beyond AMAZING. The staff is great, the principal is a very nice man who is approachable and always willing to talk. After a month of my son going there it seemed everyone knew him and would wave to him, teachers included. Very clean and organized. They are a School at Hope that thrives on accountability, respect, and preparing all children for a great future. They whole heartedly believe "That all children are capable of success. No exceptions. No excuses". It's in both their treasure hunter daily pledge and the kids at hope daily pledge. We were planning on moving, but now we are only looking into houses that will keep my children at this school.Parent Review7y ago
