Read what parents are saying about Integrated Arts Academy At H. O. WheelerOur daughter is in her 3rd year at IAA and we all feel that it's a great fit for her. The teachers are all very caring and creative. The school takes any issues that are important to you as a parent or important to the child seriously and works jointly to resolve any concerns/issues. The PTO is highly engaged and comes up with wonderful events for the students and families throughout the school year. We have schools that are closer to our home, but this school continues to impress us. The focus is on integrated the arts (music, dance, visual arts, drama and creative writing) in to all disciplines of learning. The students are given the opportunity to move, interact with their peers and be creative all day. If your child likes to focus quietly on a project, there is time for that as well. The Monday and Friday full school gatherings are a wonderful example of the school's energy and definitely check those out when considering this school for your child.
Posted by a parent on 12/19/2014My children have attended both Edmunds and the Integrated Arts Academy. There is lice at both schools. I can attest to that. There is lice in many schools in Vermont (I know friends in Underhill, South Burlington, Williston and beyond who've encountered lice) and across the country, including in very hoity-toity schools in California (except the parents there can afford to pay people to pick out their kids' lice. Really).
Posted by a parent on 6/29/2013I went here and it was terrible!I was bullied by a girl and I only made one friend. The girl who bullied me eventually ended up finding my phone number, calling me,and threatning me.There is also a HUGE lice problem, everybody there has it,I had it for six months because whenever I got rid of it,I got it again.I transfered to edmunds and was much happier.

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageProbably an okay school if your child doesn't have a disability and/or isn't gifted. In my family's experience, the school does not support my child with a physical disability and does not challenge them or acknowledge their other gifted areas. If your child has a disability, know that you may need to fight the school at every step of the way. I would recommend not trusting that they are providing support and doing regular check ins with the teacher/school.No parking, let alone for a child and/or parent with a disability (one parallel "handicap" parking space without access to get a chair out, and that a staff member parks in). Had to carry my child down the street to get to and from school too many times. The one bright spot at this school is one of the Kindergarten teachers (Mrs. Blair) who is a gem.Other Review2y ago - Edmunds Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWith multiple children, we have been at St. Francis Xavier for many years. All of them started at age 4 in the Pre K program. It is a place that our children feel at home when they are not. All have thrived in this safe and secure school environment and were well prepared for the rigors of a preparatory high school. The teachers and administration all work together for the success of each student. The community at St. Francis is strong with participation from all families. It is a very comforting place to spend any extra hours you may have volunteering. St. Francis Xavier has a strong academic curriculum that includes Catholic faith, art, foreign language, music, STEM, digital learning and RECESS for all. We couldn't be happier to be part of this thriving school. If your child needs something more, check out this school. You will not be disappointed!Parent Review4y ago
