Me encanta esta escuela, los maestros muy profesionales siempre

La escuela no es mala el personal si por ejemplo la Karla Laureano deberían sacar esa mujer de esa escuela a mi hijo lo trata mal le grita y no lo deja entrar a la oficina en ningún momento y quiere sacar de la escuela al niño y siempre la hace de problemas inventa cosas que no son para que el niño no quede inscrito

It seems to be a cool kids club wherein teachers stay for years and have an unyielding loyalty, while prospective teachers, or newer teachers, cannot break through the barrier. Applicants are given a hint of communication that comes way too late to offer hope, and is never followed through. No rejection letter, but also no interview. There was a job fair and a room full of dozens of people waited 30min for a tour of the building. Attendees were told by the head of HR that the building was not prepared for a tour and everyone would walk around outside looking into the windows while student guides pointed at the building....in the freezing cold with snow and ice on the ground. The woman who organized the job fair said that is not what was discussed and was clearly upset. DFW is a major player on the national stage, so professionalism is expected.

This is the school that most kids attend if they aren’t admitted to more serious academic schools like Greenhill or St Marks/Hockaday. The kids love learning here because it isn’t very challenging academically therefore they have more fun. They accept kids with learning disabilities and have special time during the day for them to bring in tutors. They thrive off of the fun stuff. Big football games and tons of dance and cheerleaders and extracurriculars. They actively recruit football players and it changes the dynamic of the class when the kids reach high school. If you aren’t Christian or religious don’t let them fool you - they act very “open and inclusive” about religion but in reality they spend close to 2 hours a week in Christian Chapel. 20 minute all days except for Thursday when they have a communion service which is 35 minutes. With 10 minutes of passing periods for chapel. So in total even more than 2 hours per week is dedicated to basically a church service. This is a cornerstone of the school but it isn’t highly published. They do not have any leeway - kids must attend the chapel service and MUST follow along in the hymnal. We are Hindi and my child is told as long as she follows along, she can “zone out” during chapel. Not sure what that teaches. They won’t allow students of other religions to miss chapel and are not open to any type of non denominational service. Overall my kid has been happy here but you see the top students applying out in high school to the more rigorous schools in Dallas.

Our son is a "Lifer" with Westwood. He started in Kindergarten and is now in High School. We have experienced sports, grade level plays, Middle School, Covid, and Post Covid in an academic environment. All through the process, we have met great parents, amazing parent mentors (who teach you the ropes), and Faculty who learns how to teach your child. Your child will learn to read and write in any school, however, it is through the support of Faculty and the community you join, you will see your child in a comfortable environment to grow and mature.
