Read what parents are saying about Doss Elementary SchoolHappy, positive climate. This school teaches so much more than the basics, and there are plenty of optional clubs, contests, and after school activities. The teachers are nothing short of phenomenal and most are very experienced--- and fun and kind to boot. Lots of opportunities for parents to be involved; staff are warm and welcoming of parental involvement.

Posted by a parent on 8/20/2022This school WAS great! However, with the current administration 14 teachers left at the end of 20\21 school year. Hmmmm.....Mass exodus.

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI can't say enough good things about Gullett. The entire experience is one of engagement and togetherness. My kids love it. The teachers are, shockingly, happy and engaged as well. I feel lucky we found it and lucky our kids get to go there.Parent Review3w ago - Highland Park Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhile the principal is competent and highly responsive, there is a culture of toxic positivity from the top that trickles down to almost everyone. If you question how things are done or why, you are often passive aggressively shamed or gaslighted. Some teachers are stellar, others are average, and some are pretty terrible. Your experience each year largely depends on the teacher you are assigned to. The school is very old and AISD chose not to include it in the 2022 bond due to "equity" (after Doss and Casis were already redone with previous bond money). Due to the age, the community spaces are too small, there are rodents present, and the safety is questionable at best. There is a ton of parent support via both time and money, and that allows the school to offer opportunities and resources that would otherwise not be available at an AISD school.Parent Review4mo ago - Hill Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI am a happy parents at Hill. Though, one major problem is homework. Me and my family feel that homework shouldn't be needed in elementary school. Children maybe be stressed, or may just not feel confident doing it themselves. One other problem is the school is majorly crowded, and the lunchrooms are really loud and and messy. I've seen lunch monitors put the table cleaner on the floor and re-use it. Other then that, this school is great and the teachers are really interactive.Parent Review1y ago - Pillow Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe current STAAR rating for this school is an ""F." I was a teacher at this school for many years. I've had a lot of support from principals that were professional and had great leadership qualities. For there to be an improvement in the rating, there must be a change in the current principal at Pillow. The principal talks and treats teachers with disrespect. Teachers did not feel valued and were retaliated against. So for two years in a row there has been a HUGE turnover in the staff. This principal lacks the knowledge and leadership of how to run a school. Parents, teachers, and members of the community have voiced concerns with supervisors but she continues run the school into the ground. It is a shame to see how the school has changed for the worst.Teacher Review6mo ago - Casner Christian Academy

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is wonderful. I'm glad we found this school for my child. She's been moving through some tough home life situations, and they have been encouraging and understanding without babying here. This school you DO have to work to complete the work. This is a type of work ethic not needed at other schools, but they are skills that will sustain the children throughout life. The kids are no longer able to dominate and skate by.I see some of the other reviews have complaints over the work, and it can be significant, but it is a growth opportunity for the kids. There is still plenty of time to play and be goofy kids.Parent Review1y ago - St Matthew's Episcopal School
