Read what parents are saying about Capitol School Of AustinThey do an amazing job at customizing learning plans for each child so that they are able to grasp and learn each skill set. They work hard to make sure they understand what they learn and are having fun at the same time. They create a safe environment with these kids which builds self-confidence. An amazing school!
Posted by a parent on 5/24/2016The Capitol School of Austin and Ms. Katie have been amazing for my son. Before CSA, my son was labeled as the "bad kid" that seemed to get lost in the cracks and dismissed in other school settings. Ms. Katie saw the my son was not a bad kid, but a frustrated child with a severe language delay and sensory processing disorder. She had been so patient with him and has thought outside the box to make sure he thrives. For the three years before CSA, my son had to be peeled off of me every day kicking and screaming because he didn't want to go to school. He is so excited to go to CSA and leaving us every morning is a non event. It's a dream for a parent with a child with separation anxiety. Ms. Katie, thank you for being so wonderful and giving my son the opportunity to thrive and rise to his full potential. You are amazing!
Posted by a parent on 5/24/2016Capitol School of Austin, CSA, educates students with speech language deficits from preschool to 4th grade . Students typically have additional sensory challenges. CSA families live as far north as Round Rock or as far south as Kyle. On a personal note, I cannot express how appreciative I am of the CSA for answering our deepest prayers. Despite seeing a speech therapist twice a week since 28 months, our son did not talk more than a syllable at age 37 months old. We found CSA after our son started throwing himself out of his lunch chair at his preschool. That was his way of communicating he was hungry. Within the first week at CSA, we started hearing spontaneous 2 word combinations. In the first month, we were able to teach him to say "hungry." Three months ago, we measured speech gains in syllables. Now, we talk about number of words in a sentence. The speech gains have been amazing, however the social skills have brought tears to our eyes. Our son would play just outside the group. He didn't understand his peers or how to play with them. The teachers have taught him how to interact and play with peers. At pick up, I frequently see him playing chase and cars with his classmates. Most importantly, there's a new sense of calm and peace within him. He's happy. He's safe. He's understood. The school gives us the tools to carry the peace, calm and understanding into our home. We can't thank CSA enough for giving us the gift of knowing our child and the hope that tomorrow will be better.
Posted by a parent on 5/12/2016I don't know where we would be without Capital School! Our daughter started at 2 1/2-she could say about three words and was extremely shy. A year and a half later, she is talking up a storm and gets sad when she can't go see her teachers and classmates on the weekends. It's an amazing place.
Posted by a parent on 5/10/2016This is a beautiful school that serves kids who honestly may have nowhere else to go to learn in a nurturing, accepting environment. All of the teachers are trained in speech pathology and in the short time we were there I saw marked improvement in the kids, including ones who seemed utterly lost at first. It would be nice if the public schools provided this level of attention and help, but they don't, and we are lucky to have this school.

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI can't say enough good things about Gullett. The entire experience is one of engagement and togetherness. My kids love it. The teachers are, shockingly, happy and engaged as well. I feel lucky we found it and lucky our kids get to go there.Parent Review1mo ago - Highland Park Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWhile the principal is competent and highly responsive, there is a culture of toxic positivity from the top that trickles down to almost everyone. If you question how things are done or why, you are often passive aggressively shamed or gaslighted. Some teachers are stellar, others are average, and some are pretty terrible. Your experience each year largely depends on the teacher you are assigned to. The school is very old and AISD chose not to include it in the 2022 bond due to "equity" (after Doss and Casis were already redone with previous bond money). Due to the age, the community spaces are too small, there are rodents present, and the safety is questionable at best. There is a ton of parent support via both time and money, and that allows the school to offer opportunities and resources that would otherwise not be available at an AISD school.Parent Review4mo ago - Reilly Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe school went through some leadership and staffing challenges last year but our new principal since 2022-2023 Mrs. Olano has been wonderful. The school had substitutes last year as did much of AISD but is now fully staffed as of 2023-2024. This school is small with a very tight knit community of committed parents and teachers- everyone knows our kids! I love the dual language program and the librarian who leads the GT program, as well as the focus on community and school events to celebrate the Spanish and Mandarin programs.Parent Review7mo ago - Rosedale

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is unorganized and lacks communication between staff and parents. If your looking for a place to "deal" with your child you found it. This gave me a break from the democracy you deal with In public schools however removed the structure needed to manage behaviors from both teachers and students. The students have their own community (group chats) in which they bully, harass, and discuss topics such as suicide, sexual preferences, drugs and other topics outside of school. Teachers have no control either, they participate in belittle student's by pointing out food choices, body weight and academic performance in front of their peers. There is a limited amount of staff to watch students, even with the constant request for donations, St. Francis prides themselves with accepting parent volunteers to take on roles for school nurses, counseling, and teaching positions. This school portrays to be a community school however the truth is the Christian values it operates under are a facade as what is accepted is everything outside of any morals and values associated with their own mission statement.Parent Review1y ago - The Children's School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school is wonderful. I'm glad we found this school for my child. She's been moving through some tough home life situations, and they have been encouraging and understanding without babying here. This school you DO have to work to complete the work. This is a type of work ethic not needed at other schools, but they are skills that will sustain the children throughout life. The kids are no longer able to dominate and skate by.I see some of the other reviews have complaints over the work, and it can be significant, but it is a growth opportunity for the kids. There is still plenty of time to play and be goofy kids.Parent Review1y ago
