Eden park was a great experience for us. The school has a very community feel. Parents are involved and the staff and administrators are responsive to concerns or needs. If your child needs afterschool care, however, I do not recommend the extended care that they offer. The staff is impersonal and rarely interacts with the kids. The word my son used to describe them is ‘mean’. There are lots of options for afterschool care choose literally any of them other than this one.

A hidden gem in South Austin! Registering at Joslin was the best choice we have made since moving to Austin. The administration is caring and helpful. The PTA goes above and beyond to make Joslin a fun and beautiful campus. The small community is special and incredibly welcoming. My kids have tons of after school enrichment to choose from and every teacher we have had genuinely loves and cares about my child and their success. Aside from english, Students can choose to learn in Spanish or Mandarin… or both! We love this school!

Dedication to excellence and developing every aspect of the whole child not just academics is clear at Odom. The office staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. You get a sense of belonging like a family; genuine care and concern for all students. The teachers have a way to include every student and diversify their teaching to accommodate all the different learning styles that make up their classes. The score of “4” is not reflective of all the great and positive things this school is doing and accomplishing. Your kid will feel welcome, comfortable and at ease to learn. Staff ensure the child’s needs are met beyond academics; honing in on their emotional and mental health as well.

The 5th grade teacher Gigioloti-Barton is a professional bully! You can tell she knows how to manipulate people and get away with it!

This was our first year sending both of our kids, and they’ve learned so much in such a short time. The teachers truly care and many even have their own children enrolled, which says a lot. We love that they’re being taught biblical principles along with a top-tier curriculum — our kindergartener is already writing cursive! The school is affordable, Christ-centered, and our kids are thriving. Highly recommend!

Fantastic small, affordable Christian school in central area of Austin

We initially chose Austin Montessori School because we fell in love with the AMI accreditation and the idyllic, peaceful environment of the campus. For the early years (YCC and Children’s House), it felt like magic. Our child was independent, happy, and developing a wonderful sense of self.However, as we moved into the Elementary levels, the 'Montessori Magic' began to feel more like a lack of oversight. While the school prides itself on a self-paced environment, we discovered that 'self-paced' can sometimes be used as a shield for a lack of progress. When we raised concerns about our child falling behind in core areas like literacy, the administration's response was consistently dismissive. We felt gaslighted—told that our child was 'finding their own way' when, in reality, they were struggling with a learning difference that the school was unequipped (or unwilling) to address.The biggest heartbreak was the lack of transparency. We found that internal assessments weren't always shared with us in a timely or honest manner. There is a deeply ingrained culture of 'trust the process,' but when that process fails a child, there seems to be no safety net or humility from the leadership to pivot.While the long-tenured 'guides' are clearly dedicated to the philosophy, the administration feels rigid and, at times, ethically questionable in how they handle families who ask tough questions. We ultimately joined a growing group of families who felt forced to leave to ensure our child received the actual academic support they needed. It is a lovely community if your child fits a very specific mold, but if they need any form of specialized intervention or clear academic benchmarks, you may find yourself feeling very isolated.
