Pope Elementary School

We were having way too many issues with the school and my daughter’s behaviors were getting worse. An Assistant grabbed my autistic child’s arm one day and then my final straw was someone from the school told my husband we should start spanking her. I had to report the school to the TEA and the principal's first suggestion, at my child’s ARD Meeting, was to transfer my daughter to a new school, not what they could do to remedy it. They clearly wanted to get rid of my child and not help her. When I asked my daughter why she was being bad, her reason was, “I’m a bad kid”, so the teachers and assistants were telling my 6 year old, autistic child that she was a bad kid. After discussing with family and my daughter’s School Advocate/Social Worker, we decided to pull her from the school and homeschool her. The social worker even said it sounds like a Civil Liberties issue with the school. If you’re child is in special education or has disabilities, I DO NOT Recommend this school

If i could give 0 stars that's what it'll be just that.

Alot of bullying going around and bringing it up to the principal or teachers doesn't resolve anything.

If you’re looking for a welcoming school in general this isn’t it. As a current student I can say from experience when you first show up you’re looked at and treated merely as a new toy for a spoiled child. Later as you continue at the school (if you do) the true colors begin to appear with racist remarks and naming of slurs to nit picking about physical looks almost as if they have to force themselves ( the other students / peers) to believe they are better because ultimately they are not. The students here are relentless and juvenile in the way they abusively speak to peers and ignorantly whisper rude and selfish remarks from behind the backs of teachers. The accommodations are mediocre at best being lower and less accommodating than what you would likely find at a public school anywhere within Fort Worth. See, I would personally like to state that if not for being in a predicament with having little time left before collage I would not be at this school and I do hope this review finds its way into the hands of other students’ parents before they make the irreversible and destructive mistake of sending their beloved children to this school even if for the honest reasons promised by and disregarded by the school and school leaders themselves. Long story short PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE it is not worth the sacrifice.
