Read what parents are saying about The Flint AcademyFlint Academy does an excellent job of creating an environment of love and acceptance in a learning style that benefits all students.
Posted by a parent on 4/2/2018I have taught at The Flint Academy for 2 years and have seen significant growth in students academically and socially. The teachers do a wonderful job of meeting the individual needs of their typical and special needs students, keeping learning fresh and exciting, and giving the students a sense of accomplishment and pride in what they can do.
Posted by a teacher on 3/10/2017Our children have been at The Flint Academy for four years and it has been an overall wonderful experience. Our eldest was recently talking about how some of her friends at other schools seem to just want to get the assignment turned in with a good grade. While she wants that too, she has really developed a love of learning along the way in addition to the desire for good grades. This is exactly what we had hoped and prayed for when making our school decision!
Posted by a parent on 1/24/2017Teaching at Flint Academy has been a great privilege. I have a student that goes here as well. The school families and staff are outstanding.
Posted by a parent on 1/24/2017This is our second year at Flint and my son lives going to school. The individualized lesson plans are exactly what he needed. He's encouraged and motivated by all of his teachers. He's happy and eager to learn which is all we ever wanted in searching for a new school. So happy we found this amazing school.

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNo school is perfect. Teachers today are challenged with navigating an increasingly diverse population. I am a teacher and I know it is a tough job. I have had one child finish their elementary education here and I have another child still attending Duff. Both of my children display regression with regard to STAAR scores. Normally this would not bother me at all. This school instills fear over testing based on my experience. One grade level would not provide my child with individual positive feedback. When I pressed the issue, I found no support from admin and can echo what another parent says regarding administrative support. I sent multiple emails to the principal that were simply ignored. When I copy the higher up, district personnel they finally responded with a generic email. I wanted to love this school so much but I am not able to report many positive interactions. The music teacher is wonderful! His programs are amazing. The front office ladies are great as well. Y family has not had a positive experience with anyone else. This school is run like a prison. My child dropped a pencil out of her reach, asked (whispered) her classmate to hand it to her and then was reprimanded so severely she came home in tears. Admin does not care. They blindly support their teachers. I can appreciate backing your people up but you his school is more on the “good ole boy,” system. If you’re one of the good ole boys, you get the best. If you’re not? Too bad for you. As a teacher myself, I always wondered why special education students needed “positive reinforcement,” as an accommodation. It seems to me, as someone who feels called to teach neurodivergent learners, that positive reinforcement is the norm. This school taught me not all teachers agree. If it’s not in the IEP, they don’t positively reinforce student behavior. Apparently even if it is an accommodation in a students educational plan, they still may not get all that they need despite the myriad of financial resources they have. If you have the option, look elsewhere for an inclusive environment for your child.Parent Review6mo ago - Dunn Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy kiddo constantly got bullied by some first grade teachers. Consequently, when my child spoke up, my child would be reprehended. This school needs to be investigated. By far this was the worst experience for my child. Causing my child a great deal of anxiety and sadness. Due to all the mistreatment at this school. Unfortunately, principles here at this school cover up. Worst school, not sure if it was a color of my child skin, race or being a single parent, and not able to be at the school every day. As No parent should. They take advantage of the situation. This school is a thumbs down.Parent Review11mo ago - Hill Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school means so much to my heart. My son had a few problems last year and they were the kindest, most supportive team. The teachers, principal, assistant principal, counselor, even the front desk staff…every last one of them were there for my son and our family. I’m forever grateful. Educational, my kids have grown and they’ve had excellent teachers thus far. Many parents are involved in the PTA, my children feel safe, and parents are consistently informed of what is happening, educationally and socially.Parent Review7mo ago - Pope Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTMA is a wonderful school with very caring educators, administrators, parents, etc... Our daughter loves going to school everyday and we love sending her to school everyday. She has only been going one semester and it's made a huge difference in her ability to take care of herself, and others. She's more helpful and determined/ focused on her tasks.Parent Review4mo ago
