Read what parents are saying about Arlington Classics Academy - Primary SchoolThere are a handful of highly qualified teachers that know what they are doing which make this school a good experience for your child. If you get one of those, consider yourself lucky! Unfortunately, school leadership is weak and arbitrary in their approach to selecting and building talent. Many teachers are not certified and lack the skills to teach a wide variety of students and effectively manage a classroom. I have had experience with both for my child and will not be returning. The leadership does not engage on concerns raised that get to core issues of instructional quality and accountability, especially regarding holding themselves to a high standard. Staff turnover is high as well but not in a good way. It is exactly the opposite of what the supposed benefits of a charter school are! Talking with other parents I have heard the middle and intermediate campus leadership is better but won't be sticking around to find out!Bottom line - superficially this school appears to be an attractive option for your child but it is actually rotting at its core. Consider yourself lucky if you get one of the good teachers who shields you from the terrible leadership.
Posted by a parent on 5/28/2021My children are safe & happy. Each year they’ve had excellent teachers. The K-2 campus is a close-knit group, and I’m satisfied with my child’s academic progress.
Posted by a parent on 1/25/2020Terribly disappointing. Their reputation precedes them which is why we eagerly sent our child to this school. Here’s what we discovered. It’s a classical academy so emphasis is on reading and writing with average expectations for math and science. They set unrealistic expectations for children. Our child is bright, happy, super outgoing and they want to stifle him. They want to suppress his inquisitive spirit because it’s easier for them to teach fully compliant kindergartners. They threaten children with getting their calendars signed, taking away griffin bucks, revoking recess and fun Friday for bad behavior. Let’s be clear here. My child is a normal 5 year old. He’s asked to be perfectly compliant all day from 7:45 to 3:05. His teacher is not forgiving and sets the precedent that children that get their calendar signed are “bad” kids. My child has been made aware that this school has a waitlist so that means that they should feel privileged to be there. That if they leave another more deserving child will fill their place. I think this is why parents don’t complain or why no one hears their complaints. If you have any concerns you will NOT be heard. They’ll be more than happy if you just go somewhere else.
Posted by a student on 1/24/2020I couldn't say enough about how happy we are to be at ACA. It is an absolutely awesome environment with supportive staff and teachers from the top. They care about their students and you can tell. If there were 10 stars to give they would have earned them. We love it! Our son has flourished. My sister is a teacher at a private school and the curriculum at ACA is either completely comparable or in some cases exceeds. I was one of the on the fence Mom's about the transition but I can tell you I feel like it has been one of my best decisions to date.
Posted by a parent on 12/14/2017We are so happy to have our son here. It's amazing what these students are capable of when given the proper learning environment.

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageNo school is perfect. Teachers today are challenged with navigating an increasingly diverse population. I am a teacher and I know it is a tough job. I have had one child finish their elementary education here and I have another child still attending Duff. Both of my children display regression with regard to STAAR scores. Normally this would not bother me at all. This school instills fear over testing based on my experience. One grade level would not provide my child with individual positive feedback. When I pressed the issue, I found no support from admin and can echo what another parent says regarding administrative support. I sent multiple emails to the principal that were simply ignored. When I copy the higher up, district personnel they finally responded with a generic email. I wanted to love this school so much but I am not able to report many positive interactions. The music teacher is wonderful! His programs are amazing. The front office ladies are great as well. Y family has not had a positive experience with anyone else. This school is run like a prison. My child dropped a pencil out of her reach, asked (whispered) her classmate to hand it to her and then was reprimanded so severely she came home in tears. Admin does not care. They blindly support their teachers. I can appreciate backing your people up but you his school is more on the “good ole boy,” system. If you’re one of the good ole boys, you get the best. If you’re not? Too bad for you. As a teacher myself, I always wondered why special education students needed “positive reinforcement,” as an accommodation. It seems to me, as someone who feels called to teach neurodivergent learners, that positive reinforcement is the norm. This school taught me not all teachers agree. If it’s not in the IEP, they don’t positively reinforce student behavior. Apparently even if it is an accommodation in a students educational plan, they still may not get all that they need despite the myriad of financial resources they have. If you have the option, look elsewhere for an inclusive environment for your child.Parent Review6mo ago - Dunn Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy kiddo constantly got bullied by some first grade teachers. Consequently, when my child spoke up, my child would be reprehended. This school needs to be investigated. By far this was the worst experience for my child. Causing my child a great deal of anxiety and sadness. Due to all the mistreatment at this school. Unfortunately, principles here at this school cover up. Worst school, not sure if it was a color of my child skin, race or being a single parent, and not able to be at the school every day. As No parent should. They take advantage of the situation. This school is a thumbs down.Parent Review11mo ago - Hill Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school means so much to my heart. My son had a few problems last year and they were the kindest, most supportive team. The teachers, principal, assistant principal, counselor, even the front desk staff…every last one of them were there for my son and our family. I’m forever grateful. Educational, my kids have grown and they’ve had excellent teachers thus far. Many parents are involved in the PTA, my children feel safe, and parents are consistently informed of what is happening, educationally and socially.Parent Review7mo ago - Key Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageTMA is a wonderful school with very caring educators, administrators, parents, etc... Our daughter loves going to school everyday and we love sending her to school everyday. She has only been going one semester and it's made a huge difference in her ability to take care of herself, and others. She's more helpful and determined/ focused on her tasks.Parent Review4mo ago
