Read what parents are saying about Jhs 185 Edward BleekerOverall, this school is pretty good, except for some teachers who like to yell at students. What I find unacceptable is the school security guy. He is a very rude person and disrespectful to others.
Posted by a parent on 12/20/2023JHS185 is a good school and most teachers treated us fairly. Mr.McDonald is the best teacher I ever met in this school:)I wish Ms.Mshar will stay at this school and not retire. She funny and kind....
Posted by a student on 6/24/2023All the teachers and staffs are super nice and there are many programs at this school that is fun and good for your health.
Posted by a parent on 4/13/2022Teachers are very energetic, engaging and caring. Students are challenged to discuss and answer questions in small groups or through class participation. Lessons are well prepared by the teachers and very organized.
Posted by a parent on 4/12/2021theres a lot of bullying in bleeker. i personally dont recommend if you want your kids to be away from bad influence, theres problems between bleeker and jhs 194 in whitestone which is really close. the kids ofter go to 194 to fight them and the students are really judging towards students from different countries. im colombian and the students in bleeker are mostly salvadorians that didn't accept me and other people that are from countries different to el salvador.

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AveragePlease pay attention to your kids if they are struggling, my child asked 2 of his teachers for help during the pandemic and he was told they don't have time. The following year my child realized he was going to have that very same teacher, he told me he wasn't going to school! I couldn't believe it was this bad that my child left all of his friends because of this one teacher! It was very sad he had to take such a stance for his own education. I thought maybe he was just saying that, gave him a couple of days emailed the principal...to this day I haven't gotten 1 response or apology. The staff said they were short on teachers nothing they could do! So my son was transferred to a different school where he thrived all A's and B's again! It's sad there are some teachers and principals who would ignore the damage and negative impact they cause children. I was more disappointed in the principal as I thought she was more of an honest upfront woman who seemed reasonable with communication we have had in the past. A simple response would have been professional.Parent Review1y ago - Ps 242 Leonard P Stavisky Early Childhood School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageAs a public school teacher, I never imagined sending my children to private school. However, now I know why so many of my colleagues do. I personally love the small class sizes and after school sports/activities offered throughout the school year. Both of my children absolutely love their teachers and classmates. The administration and Father Fonti are always there to greet the students in the morning and know ALL of their names. My son has an IEP and is entitled to speech therapy three times a week. His CPSE coordinator claimed that they didn’t have anyone available to go to his school so I reached out to admin at St. Mel’s. The admin went above and beyond to find a speech teacher for my son. I’m so blessed that my children are at a place that cares about their academic as well as their social-emotional growth like St. Mel’s. Go Wildcats!Parent Review1y ago - Holy Trinity School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have 2 kids at this school who came from public school. From day 1 we could see the difference in not only the level of education but in how more was expected from them. The teachers are incredibly helpful, they are easily accessible and have been very good at communicating issues and achievements. This is a great school. We have actually decided to stay in College Point just so our kids can continue to attend here.Parent Review5y ago - St Lukes School
