Read what parents are saying about Ezra L. Nolan No. 40 Middle SchoolHorrendous. Lengthy review. TDLR: This school is as bad as they get. Please look the other way when deciding whether or not to send your child to this middle school. Environment- Awful. I am an alumni for 2016-2017's 8th grade class. I didn't spend too much time in this school although. My mom was aware of the toxic environment (police constantly coming to the school, and full on fist fights breaking out for what felt like everyday) I often spent my time home (studying. Of course.) And then eventually moved schools, and then got homeschooled. (Which I feel was far better off.)Academics- Basic, I suppose. I can't exactly remember what was being taught back when I was still at the school, but things didn't really seem quite challenging. Homework was rarely assigned I am pretty sure. Teachers and Students-Students, as aforementioned, were very violent and toxic. Of course, not all of them, never all of them. Although bullying was an IMMENSE problem. One of my best friends suffered from bullying and one day while inside during Recess she told a teacher about the bullying. Absolutely NO action taken against it. Unsurprising.

I am so proud of the teachers in PS 40. My son loves Mrs. Sisk, she entertain the kids, get them ready for the NJ ASK she has confident in her students. She is always willing to put for on for her students to be winners. Mrs. Sisk contact parents as soon as their is a problem, she does not let it escalate. Mrs. Sisk wants the best for her students. The school principals and all other staff are very concern in all student learning and safety. I am so proud my school can find guidance, education, in this school. Mrs. Sisk is a great Mathematics Teacher never gives up in her students

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI think Horace Mannn is an absolutely amazing school. I really think the rating great schools is giving is giving Horace Mann justice. There is soo much more to this school that meets the eye. I am a student in Horace Mann. This school is on top of bullying. There is barely any. And if there is the Guidance Counselor is on the case. The principle is absolute Wonderfull. She considers each student as their own person. The teachers are wonder full. Their is none treating someone unfairly except one 7th grade teacher. I will not name. But she isn't very professional and takes part in student gossip. I definitely wish I complained against her but its way to late now. Other than that. The teachers in this school try to get the best out of you without rigging the system like some of my other schools I have been into. I love this school and am so happy to be a tiger. This in my opinion is the best school in Bayonne if you don't count the G&T programs at Oresko.Student Review4y ago - Washington No. 9 Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThere's nothing wrong with the staff or students it's the school. I had my laptop fixed twice, the first time it was my fault I broke the screen but the one they gave me back was not my laptop. They just swap the broken ones out for another broken one. I was hoping for a fixed one, not one in poor condition. The keys are sticky and there's some weird stuff in between the keys that just grosses me out. I'm using it to type this right now, I have to push really hard just to type a letter. The only reason why there's two stars instead of one is because of the amazing people that I met here. The school's stingy ways are making us pay $20 just for key replacements or $80 for a screen replacement.Student Review1y ago - Whitney M Young

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageP.S.20 would be a happier and healthier environment under different leadership. I’ve witness the principal speak down to the female staff, and mock the children. My family transferred here from NYC, and if it wasn’t for the relationships my children built with their teacher, I would’ve removed them. I highly doubt Mr ileya have children or even likes them in that case. I also get a “hello” when I’m wearing my business suit, on the days I work from home and wear a sweat suit he treats me in accordance to his perception. Other parents feel the same about the lack of leadership on the principals behalf, I even recorded his “ death stare of disgust” when looking at children unaware he’s being watched. I give the school 4 stars due to the teachers.Parent Review2y ago - Number 34 Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe staff at the front door are very rude. My mom was going to take my brother because they made him a school transfer, and they told her that they couldn't attend her that she has to go on another day. Like they didn’t care.Other Review2mo ago - James F. Murray No. 38 Elementary School
