Read what parents are saying about Heritage Middle SchoolIn our experience, the administration is unfriendly, lacks compassion, and does not adequately support students and staff. Within our neighborhood, we know of four families, including ours, who found it necessary to remove their child from Heritage to enroll in another school during the last several years. The administration and the district should take a closer look at the cultural problems inherent in this school. I would also suggest the district reevaluate its choice to use a middle school format for 5th grade. This seems rare and early for many children. Why not start the first year at Heritage with an elementary school structure to ease the transition?
Posted by a parent on 2/24/2023My son went to the other middle school close to our home first. He did not do well with the strict way of teaching. We switched him to Heritage Middle School and he LOVES the Stem 'hands on' teaching style. He engages in what he is learning now and is excited for school every day. I was worried about the reputation that Heritage has as a 'touch school' so we first went to another. But now that we embraced the school and it's individuality we simply can't say enough good about the school. Teachers really take time to TEACH not just give assignments for students to take home like other schools.
Posted by a parent on 10/12/2015Heritage is a cutting edge school with a friendly and responsive staff. They are innovative in the way that they deliver instruction and are committed to preparing students for the 21st century work force. They have top notch facilities and resources. The parents group is also very involved and has contributed to making Heritage a cohesive community of learners.

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis school had some leadership change about five years ago and is an incredible place. Many teachers have been there a long time and the dedication to the kids and community really shows. We love having our child in language immersion education. We love seeing what the school is doing to work on equity and restorative justice. I have volunteer in my child's classes many times and find it super welcoming. There are monthly parent meetings to keep everyone informed on what's going on at school and a very helpful staff to communicate when you have questions. We feel this school is a true hidden gem.Parent Review4y ago - Moreland Art/Health Science Magnet

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have been so impressed with Moreland Elementary for my kids. The teachers and staff go above and beyond to create a welcoming environment and bring unique experiences to the kids. The ARTS curriculum and residency programming is very sweet. There are many fun, free family events to participate in through the year. A lovely community!Parent Review5mo ago - Somerset Elementary School

9/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe moved from another district to attend this school, and it was well worth it. Our child is thriving in kindergarten. The kindergarten teacher is fantastic and provides weekly updates about classroom activities. The school curriculum is centered on kindness and emotional health, which in turn creates a stable, supportive, environment for children to learn. The class size is small, so all the kids get enough individualized attention. The kids are reading, writing, and even creating their own stories! A counselor gives regular lessons on feelings, eg “what is empathy”. There are many other supportive services for specific student needs. (For example, one mom shared with me that she is very pleased with the many services her kid receives to address autism.). The students get lots of time outside to enjoy the beautiful wooded playground. My child’s classroom is small but diverse—economically, linguistically, and racially. We have received lots of support from other families who have been in the district a while and know how things operate. I have found all staff, most notably the principal and our child’s classroom teacher, to be extremely responsive. They answer all of my questions quickly and thoroughly. The school uses a restorative Justice model to address misbehavior—although it is rarely needed. Most importantly, our child is happy and secure. She wants to go to school every day. She comes home excited to share what she has learned. She is truly thriving, and we are so grateful to all the staff at Somerset.Parent Review1y ago - Cherokee Heights Elementary School

2/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy experience here has been nothing but negative. They did not do anything for my child being bullied. They don't let you know, and they have not notified me in the past. The principal is hard to get a hold of. Pick up is difficult. All it has to offer is a pool, and free Ipad. The children here swear, and cuss, pick on other children and there's nothing but a blind eye turned to it. The teacher he had did not push him to learn. They're given worksheets thats it.Parent Review1y ago - St Joseph's School
