Read what parents are saying about St Philip LutheranMy daughter started at St Philip when she was two. Eight years later I’m still thrilled with the education she receives. Learning should be joyful and St Philip definitely makes this happen. The teachers emphasize meaningful, exciting learning. This year she went to a week-long overnight outdoor education camp. Her class has ventured to a local park to explore simple machines in action on the playground. The whole school makes regular treks to the nearby nature center to explore anything from animal life to art in nature. These are the learning experiences she’ll remember for the rest of her life. St Philip is a small school where my child excels academically and socially. Every staff member knows my child and has a relationship with her. There’s an active parent network that plans multiple family events throughout the year. St Philip is a great place and I’m glad I chose it for my child.
Posted by a parent on 11/11/2019I have two elementary school age kids and they are thriving. The class sizes are small so they get a ton of 1 on 1 attention. I like that St Philips uses differenciated instruction so that the instruction is based on the child as an individual, not the class as a whole. Definitely not they type of education they'd get at CPS. I also have a 504 for one of my children and the school has been more than willing to accomdate my child's needs. Also, a huge plus for me is that the teachers don't assign unreasonable amounts of homework. Kids lives are busy as it is. Hours of homework after school is not something I'm interested in. Seriously, we never have more than a half hour of homework. St Philips is such a blessing to my kids and to all children who go here.
Posted by a parent on 6/5/2019St. Philip Lutheran has always excell in everything. This a private school . At least not public school and No funds come from Illinois state funds. Money comes from parents that puts there children in school and entrust in school and teachers and with God help - Amen

Posted by a community member on 4/11/2013When I drop off my children I feel that they are safe in a school like St. Philip. Great parental involvement and strong school system. You are fortunate to be able to start your child off at St. Philip and to see them graduate from such a great school! It used to be combined classes with the first and second graders but not anymore...they each have their own classrooms and teachers. By the way- The sinks and water fountains HAVE been repaired. Like anything else things tend to break but these were repaired and are now exceptionally beautiful and completely functioning.

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI did not enjoy my time at this school. Most of the teachers didn't make what they taught engaging in any way, I would end up failing classes because I would have no drive or motivation to do work for my classes. I thank my 7th and 8th grade english teachers for teaching engaging and informing curriculums that would actually stick outside of school. My social life was just as bad, I had to claw my way into social acceptance and would experience bullying from many different people frequently. The fighting was also terrible. I remember the grade not being able to get through graduation practice without fighting and there would also an obsession with drama in our grade. I've heard even worse stories from even older alum but mine still wasn't pretty.Other Review7mo ago - Chappell Elementary School

6/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDon’t trust what you read on Great Schools, their data for demographics is very out of date, more than 3 years old. They don’t keep this site up to date. This is a great school, I’m a parent of a student.Parent Review5mo ago - Clinton Elementary School

N/AGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageSt Hilary School is an amazing school and a hidden gem in the North Park neighborhood. The school is warm and welcoming and very diverse. The Principal, Mrs. Kathie Donovan, is dynamic and incredibly engaged in every facet of the school's operations. We have been especially impressed by the music and art programs, which includes both band and choir. The teaching quality is superb, which is also supported by small class sizes and a great student-to-teacher ratio. Our son is in second grade, and we've been very happy with his teachers every year so far. Attention is also given to incorporating current thinking in pedagogy and curricula, and just last year they incorporated new flexible seating. Our son also attends aftercare, and he participates in the Super Soccer extracurricular program. Sports offerings include volleyball and basketball programs for girls and boys. The Family Student Association (FSA) plans regular activities and opportunities for engagement. Overall, Catholic/Christian teachings are evident especially in the spirit of kindness and service present in this school.Parent Review4y ago
