Read what parents are saying about Pleasantdale Middle SchoolThis was a great school. However the principal is the worst that I have ever encountered. The school has gotten worse and worse since Dr.Arundel has taken over. My kids use to look forward everyday to going to school. They learned a lot and truly enjoyed being there. But once Dr.Arundel came, she made unnecessary changes that made the kids feel degraded and unimportant. My daughter's class was a great group of kids: smart, respectful, supportive of each other. They participated in school activities and enjoyed going to school. But when the principal changed, I would hear stories of the kids no longer participating in activities. Almost all the kids in her class quit student council and must of the other clubs. She would tell me stories of her classmates starting to talk back to her or laugh at her and the things she tried to get them to do. Attendance started to be an issue because parents started to allow their kids to not go to school so that kids wouldn't have to deal with her. She tried to bribe the kids to come to school. The kids literally laughed in her face and said no. While people might think that that's because the kids are just being disrespectful, the kids did NOT do that to any of the teachers. They were only protesting the ridiculous rules this person tried to implement. While bullying was not really an issue before, it is definitely an issue now. I see it happening in my son's class. I can't wait to get him out of this school and can only pray that he understands that school administrators are usually there to help and protect students and that this principal is NOT the norm. Hopefully the school district does something about her before she completely ruins the school.
Posted by a parent on 10/30/2023This school didnt care at all for the child’s safety and sanity. I was constantly bullied and harassed here and no principal or teacher cared enough to do anything. I wasn’t;t a one off case either many people faced this. I hated this school and wish that it gets major changes. Im permanently traumatised from my exirpence
Posted by a community member on 9/5/2023this school is definitley not the choice if you want your child to thrive. as a student who has been going to pleasantdale for 10 years, (preschool-8th grade) i cant tell you that i've had more negative experiences, rather than positive ones. this school plays a huge role in my mental health struggles. they hired an overworked social-worker, and then go around telling parents that they support childrens mental health. and as far as safety goes, i can tell you its not good in middle school. i have had many physical interactions with my peers in the hallways such as slapping, shoving to the ground, slamming into the lockers, and threatening me, and many or all of these have gone unseen by teachers. so if you want a happy child, dont select this school. but as far as education goes, id say they are pretty decent at their job.
Posted by a student on 7/5/2023If I could give it 0 stars I would. This school is only great and wonderful if your child is mainstream and standard. If your child has any difficulties they don’t care, they are unhelpful and not supportive. They act like they never dealt with children that have disabilities. They don’t respond to emails and teachers make offensive comments. They target kids and they don’t investigate any matters or concerns. Very disappointing!!

10/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe relocated from Naperville Schools, and having a good experience there, the school system was one thing that made me want to stay in Naperville. After being a part of the Pleasantdale community for several years, I have no regrets. Every single person I have dealt with at the school, from the office staff, teachers, and principal to the superintendent and other parents has made a positive impact. This school truly feels like a community. I am often in awe at how both of my kids are thriving both academically and social/emotionally at Pleasantdale. The teachers and principal are engaging and encourage participation from the parents. I am so happy we are part of this community!Parent Review7mo ago - Highlands Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageOak school is an outstanding elementary school. The principal, Dr. Martha Henrikson demonstrates that she cares deeply about the success of each student and that philosophy that is shared by the entire staff. Oak is in District 181, feeds into the highly rated Hinsdale Middle School and then to Hinsdale High School. It is one of the top schools in Illinois for a very good reason.Parent Review2y ago - Hodgkins Elementary School
