I have known many students at SCAPA and I assure you they were admitted on their skill. There have been many applicants that were moderately talented, but came from wealth, influential families and were not admitted. It is comforting to blame one's rejection on factors other than one's skill and believe that those of privilege have an advantage. That IS NOT the case for SCAPA. Anyone who honestly evaluates the application process and looks at the resumes of those that are accepted will see this is accurate.

I am happy to see that others have had similar experiences to ours. CME is a great elementary school which provides a rich learning environment and a great atmosphere for kids. My 7 yr. old attends school at CME and based on my two years of interactions with staff I am extremely impressed with the teacher to parent communication and the learning curriculum. My daughter feels challenged and looks forward to school every morning. I truly believe that CME is a top three elementary school if not the absolute best in Lexington. If your kid(s) have the opportunity to attend CME I would highly recommend it. This will be one decision you will not regret.

All of my children attended their elementary years at Glendover. The principal, Dr. Fine, is the best person that you could ever meet. The school has felt like a family to me over the years. The teachers are terrific and my children have been more than prepared for middle school upon graduation. I have one more little one left and can’t wait to enjoy her elementary year’s at Glendover!

I have had nothing but positive experiences at RPE. I have one child who is a high achiever and was encouraged to excel, and another child with different learning abilities, who the school went the extra mile to accommodate. We are by no means a "wealthy" family, but have never felt excluded because of it. I love the feeling of community that the school creates and encourages.

I have two kids at this school. We love it! Recently, the county redrew the lines and kids from another school became a part of our VPE family. This is why you will see a disparity in the test scores. However, this is quickly changing as the school works to help those students and their younger siblings have been a part of VPE from the beginning.

So much rule oriented and cares less about the child's whole well being. Avoid or else you will regret as I am now with my 3 kids.

I am a former student of Ashland and i can say this is an amazing school. The teachers may be stict at time but they will always help you when you are in need they are willing to listen and comfort you in your time of need. I have learned a lot of things from the staff not just math, english ect. but things that will never leave me the importance of family because that is what you are in ashland you are a big family.

My experience at Stonewall has been slightly less than excellent. The deficiencies I've experienced are district-wide administrative-level issues that boil down to the fact that teachers are stretched very thin, accountability is lacking, and there is too much focus on test scores and not enough individualized learning. Communication also is an issue. The district has many great programs available, but many parents don't know about them. At the end of the day, I feel heard at Stonewall and my student with an IEP is thriving. No school will ever be perfect, but that's pretty darn good.

My son switched to Dixie for the magnet program. His standardized test scores began to drop after starting at Dixie. He also began being bullied by multiple students. He has never been bullied this much in his entire life, combined. He has been teased perpetually and there have been multiple cases of physical violence. Also, we chose this program over the gifted and accelerated program at another school because of the wide variety of extracurricular activities. However, he was only able to end up doing one for some reason. He also thinks the boys bathrooms are particularly unclean all the time. He even learns the oddest, most age inappropriate things from other students. Every time we attend an event at the school, the parents let their children (siblings to the students, I assume) run wild. I once had a parent I had never met sit her 4 year old next to me and then leave for the rest of the program. It is a very odd experience compared to the school we were at previously. The positives about the school are that his teacher is fantastic and very patient with him and the after school program has been pretty good, though a little expensive. He also really enjoys the gym instructor.

Both of my children attended Garden Springs Elementary. I can’t say it wasn’t rough at the beginning, but once Mr. Brehm came on board as Principal this ship turned on the right direction because of his leadership. The school has been fully remodeled, new technology has been adopted but most importantly, there are great teachers and great parents who care and are actively involved and committed to the children’s development. My kids have received world class education from award winning teachers. There is a lot of diversity and the students have many academic levels but the teachers always find a way to challenge each one of them to their level. In this school no one is left behind but also no one is pulled back. Everyone is encouraged to go beyond their ability.I suggest you take all the bad reviews with a grain of salt. I have seen firsthand how bullying is addressed decisively and there is no tolerance of it in this school. I have also seen how the music teacher, who also teaches music in the best middle school in Lexington and who is one of the best teachers in the city, inspires children to love the art. I am surprised this school has not gained a higher level from GreatSchools.org, but I don’t ever regret keeping my kids in the school.

I don’t know how this school isn’t a 10. I went there as a child and had the best experience of my life. My two youngest boys went there for a year and I loved every moment of it. The teachers are amazing and so is all the staff. This school is a great place for students to attend. The caringband compassion they show towards their faculty and students is exceptional. They didn’t load my children down with homework. They helped them out too their best acknowledgement.

not really impressed this year with the school, they have alot of teachers that are totally qualified to do the job and they truly care about the children. some reteaches i have questions about, some of the kids that are in the classrooms don't belong in the same classes with the other children the language that some of these children use don't need to be said around other children, when it comes to awards at the end of the year i think they fail to realize how hard some children work and get they work done. when it comes to a child being talented in arts and can draw or paint they are not recognized i just find it astounding how it works and it really bother me. as far as rating the principal he needs to spend more time welcoming parents because that is one thing he has failed to do. the teaching staff is great. there is not enough attention on bullying and letting kids get by with saying mean things. excellent staff in caferteria, the vice principal, the librarian, the resources center, make the school more welcoming for parents---the pta is excellent at this school- great custodians, i truly thank the staff and teachers

I had 5 kids in this school, now I have 3, and all of them are A students, blew KPREP out of the water so it seems the admin is doing something right. Someone I know who is a retired educated asked me what school the kids would go to, I told them Cardinal Valley. Their remark..."That is a good school" With the new principal in place the feel is great when you walk in the doors. The staff is simply amazing ,the time they invest in the children goes above and beyond previous experiences. When a child can't wait to get up and out the door to school you know something good is happening. Thank you Cardinal Valley!

My son went to Arlington Elementary from K to 5th. He had the worse experince ever. I got phone calls weekly from staff about the behavior of my son. I never understood because he was always well behaved everwhere else. We resently moved out of state. My son has not been wrote up one time since we moved and he is on the honor role. The teachers tried but the kids my son went to school with where not on the same social level or economic level as my family. Overall it was a nightmare!!! I`m so glad to be out of this school district. I tried to get involved to help not only the teachers but my son`s education. It was not really welcome. We went to all of his after school programs and it sickened me when the staff had to stand up and ask the parents to respect their children. The parents were talking during their child`s program. It was so sad.
