5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy daughter was in the Pre-K program and I can only speak to our experience with that program. I have 5 children and she is the youngest. This was by far the worst experience my family has had with a school . This school should NOT be funded for the Ealey Education Program as they are ill-equipped. The “rooms” are very small, dark and actually depressing trailers in the back of the school. There is no Dramatic Play areas for the children and very little room for them to move around. This school ignores the vast majority of research in early childhood education that shows kids gain knowledge through their experiences rather than having it spoon-fed to them by an adult. This school does not encourage exploration and discovery. They DO NOT provide rich hands-on learning opportunities to stimulate deeper understanding by asking probing questions. Play is not encouraged or tolerated; 4-year-olds must sit still and listen (they are expected to sit quietly for more than 15 to 20 minutes at a time) when their brains are wired to explore, their bodies are eager to move, and their verbal skills are ready to be unleashed. If a Pre-K student is being disciplined, teachers take away recess or outside time as a punishment. This is extremely harmful to a child in this age group and only leads to worst behavior. Activities never change or don’t hold children’s interest. When my child was at this school, I was called daily to report behavior problems. We tried to work with the teacher and staff but there was no empathy or consideration for her and the situation was actually causing her to digress and start to have tantrums (she never had them prior to attending the school). We decided to remove her from the school and place her in a private school. The 1st day at her new school, I was so worried I would receive a call. Nothing! I never received calls with bad behavior reports from the new school. During the parent teacher meeting, there were NO reported behavior concerns and she actually was moved to the highest reading and math level groups. The experience was a complete 180! Tragically, the very things that many uninformed parents desire in a preschool are the very things that are most harmful to their kids. I feel so sad for parents who have to send their child to this school and don't have the ability to look for an alternative.Parent Review5y ago6 Reviews - Deep Creek Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageWe've had a wonderful experience at Deep Creek Elementary School so far. My daughter just finished Kindergarten and I can't say enough good things about her teacher and teaching assistant. They were absolutely incredible. They created fun, engaging learning activities that helped the kids grow both academically and socially. We had great communication all year and parents always knew what was going on with their child. From day one, the entire staff has been so kind and welcoming. The school truly goes out of their way to get parents involved and even honors military families. I always felt like my child was genuinely cared for and supported. We're so grateful to be part of such a special school!Parent Review9mo ago19 Reviews - G.A. Treakle Elementary School

8/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy 6 yr old started this year and she's as happy as she can be. I did a video with her teacher today so I could meet her and go over my daughter's progress. They always include parents and continuously try to encourage parents to join the PTA. My daughter was being picked on be another little girl and the teacher took care of the problem and there has been no more issues not to mention the protective crossing guard.....Parent Review2y ago9 Reviews - Deep Creek Central Elementary School

7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageDeep Creek Central Elementary is an outstanding school! The teachers are truly wonderful—dedicated, caring, and always going the extra mile to ensure each child thrives. The school creates a warm and welcoming environment where students feel supported and excited to learn. The staff is attentive to both academic and personal development, and the community spirit is strong.Additionally, the sheriff on staff is incredibly kind, and our children really liked her. We always felt very safe knowing that the security team was there, keeping the environment secure and peaceful. The family engagement events were also a highlight—they were fun, well-organized, and gave us the opportunity to get a firsthand look at the classroom and meet the friends our kids talk about. We couldn't be happier with our experience at Deep Creek Central and highly recommend it to any family looking for a top-notch education and a safe, nurturing environment for their children. They also provide support for active duty military families and that has been great for our family.Parent Review1y ago13 Reviews - Joyous Sound Education & Enrichment Center
