This is our first year at Lafayette. I think the principal and staff are wonderful. There are after school activities, sports and groups that meet. There are free breakfasts and lunches for all students, regardless of income. What I feel is lacking is the gifted/ accelerated program. But there is a wonderful warmth and diversity to the school that lacks in many suburban schools. The school is working hard to improve parent involvement and there is a strong anti-bullying program implemented. I would recommend this school.

This is the best school I have ever been to! The teachers are always there to help you, they help in any problems you might have with another student and they teach really well. If you don't understand it the first time, they'll teach it to you again and again until you do.

The building should be shut down completely until renovations are complete. When in 1st grade my sons classroom door was always shut all the way but only an adult could pull that thing open it was SO defective. What happens in an emergency? The teachers I’ve experienced aren’t very attentive at all. The staff in the district office are very rude/unprofessional. It’s terrible that education is going to waste like this. Wish the staff wouldn’t treat parents/teachers like they do.

Wonderful school and I had the great impression for the excellent collaboration among teachers , office ladies and school bus drivers. Teachers are very kindly and friendly, to the students and parents, as well as supportive to each other and care for each other. We will absolutely want to come back to visit E. R. Martin again.

King school has some amazing teachers who care about the kids and there future. I attended there when I was in grade school and I then had the privilege of having my own children attend king school also. Every child learns differently and if with a large amount of students in the classroom the teachers are able to focus on each child individually. Makes an amazing difference in a child's life to know there teachers care.

I must say that 3 yrs ago when my daughter started attending this school I was constantly concern about safety, teaching strategies, communication with staff, and almost every aspect necessary for a school...however, I am very pleased to see that despite of their VERY LIMITED funds, I have seen improvements since 2014 up until now. Even the new principal seems to be doing exceptionally. Understand this school is in the midst of our lowest income area of the city but it gives peace of mind to see their efforts to improve despite their limitations. My daughter loves this school and the staff are dedicated to help. Teachers volunteer often and even cover out of their own pockets for field trips for the children. That's something you wont find in other schools.
