What Locals Say about Columbia

Review Highlights

Columbia, PA: riverfront charm, easy Route 30 access, community buzz, antique-rich, trail-laced. People love the river trail, parks, antiques, festivals, and quick trips to Lancaster and York. They gripe about Route 30 backups, parking tussles, some noise/crime, and rising costs.

"Columbia is perfectly situated between York and Lancaster PA for easy commutes to either location! Personally, I love being close to the Susquehanna River and loads of hiking trails. Baltimore and Philly aren’t too far away for day trips to the museums or zoos. Columbia, PA is surrounded by some the best healthcare in the country. We are blessed to be very close to UPenn, Hershey, CHOP, and Johns Hopkins if you or your loved one have special healthcare needs. Amtrak is only 20 minutes away!💕"

"Since most of the problems of bars with no class are gone, I think it's starting to improve. It's still a social issue in nearly all towns, it's still a vast improvement. "

"Other than living in town, it's a great place but expensive. High taxes and poor schools. Too much focus on tourists and not enough on fixing the community. "
  • reyna cramer
"Columbia is a great place to live if your not a parent. The cost of living keeps going up, there is nothing for kids to do, and cars are constantly being broke into."
  • Kmn

  • Rebecca J.
"Free lunches for kids in the summer, lots of library activities, small businesses, and community services. Columbia also has tons of history, mainly Civil War. Great town for antiques. "
  • M.Foehlinger
"We are just seconds off of route 30, the ramp getting on and off is horrible. Around town is not bad, usually not much traffic. But if route 30 gets backed up, all of town gets backed up. "
