New Hope

This school has really went downhil in the recent years. As someone previously stated the main principal doesn't help with anything pertaining to your children. When you voice your concerns she turns it into her whole life story and she quickly becomes defensive which doesn't solve anything. Our child was telling us daily that he was being bullied and they pointed the finger at him. They give your child sugary doughnuts and have unhealthy snacks that other people bring in without any warning or consent. Not all of the teachers are bad but the one we had experience with was more worried about our child liking her or her being a bad teacher than what was going on with the bullying. Grow up it's about the children and not who likes you as an adult. Our child went from loving school to hating and begging not to go everyday. This school can be great with the right leadership.

You can never judge or rate a school based solely on its population or area. Wilburn is a wonderful school filled with highly educated staff and heartwarming students. The new principal has truly made it a place where you want to be.Wilburn is a place of champions—a place where you feel the love, support, and pride from the moment you walk through the doors.

Our student came from a newer, more elaborate private school in Raleigh to, ultimately, FCS. The diversity of races and learning styles was one of the first attributes we discovered here. Our child thrived on all levels relating to their interests, with many more being available. Ultimately, our student was in the national 95% in math and science on all three levels (elementary, middle, and high) and received a 30 on the ACT, which led to many scholarship offers from private colleges. Based on their interests, our child attended a private college that was strong in many STEM fields. They graduated with high honors in their field of study. Two years later, our child is all grown up and working at the national headquarters for a complex business organization. They dress within business professional code and are hard-working and dedicated, things primarily learned at FCS. FCS is not perfect but, within the Wake County public and private school choices and tuition costs, it is a desirable place for your child.

Raleigh Day School has been a game changer for our daughter and our family. Our daughter is learning, growing and becoming more aware of who she is and more confident in herself with every day at RDS. RDS is the first school where she has felt that she belongs and that speaks volumes to the students, teachers and environment there. The intentional flow of the day through learning experiences that take the children from the classroom to the outdoors, and through a variety of movement and creative hands on activities has stoked her desire to learn and to work hard at it. Our teacher, Mrs. Sexton, knows her students well and provides individualized support in an inclusive way that doesn’t make my daughter feel “othered”. After two years of seeing my daughter grow more and more stressed, anxious and hopeless despite sensory and academic interventions at her public school, I knew that there had to be a better solution out there. I’m so glad I found and made the change to Waldorf Education and Raleigh Day School.
