7/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe teachers work really hard to help students recover from the effects of COVID. Motivating students to become independent learners. Restoring a natural love for learning, social skills and a desire to accept normal school academics. The focus on teaching standards with Montessori methods allowed my student to settle into his own learning style. We love Erwin Montessori School.Other Review2y ago9 Reviews - Julius I Foust Elementary School

5/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI previously worked at Foust and, unfortunately, found the experience deeply concerning. Staff morale was notably low, and there was a general lack of support and respect both among colleagues and between staff and students. Leadership appeared disconnected from the student body, often unaware of individual children's needs or even their names. One incident that stood out involved a student who experienced a personal accident and was not provided any assistance by the administration. The child remained in soiled clothing for the remainder of the day, which I believe reflected a lack of empathy and proper protocols. The overall environment was marked by staff burnout, which negatively impacted both instruction and student engagement. Additionally, the curriculum did not align well with age-appropriate standards and was not effectively designed to promote learning and development.Based on my experience, I would recommend exploring alternative educational options that prioritize student wellbeing and a supportive school culture.Teacher Review1y ago5 Reviews - Vandalia Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI absolutely love this school. I have been a parent of this school for 8 years. My son graduated 5. Th grade there in 2011. And my daughter will this school year. Wiley is a great school, with excellent Administrators, and a wonderful Faculty & staff. Wiley has an open door policy, Ms.Fields is always helpful, caring, and willing to listen to and resolve issues immediately. They always encourage parental involvement and incorporate ways to get parents involved. The teachers are Very Hard Working, caring and nurturing. (made me feel real good for my child to come home and say "my teacher loves me", or when I see that she has written across her notebook "I love Ms. ---" Whom of which is not even her teacher, but another teacher within the school. Needless to say, she feels the love, and I see and feel it when I'm throughout the school as well. I also love Wiley because they've always been very family oriented, very resourceful, offer many things to families(fun, instructional nights, parent store, weekend food backpacks, clothing, toiletries, just to name a few. I could really go on and on about some of the great things about Wiley, but I will stop here; if any doubt or ever just in the area and want to stop by, you will see that Wiley is an excellent school, with an excellent faculty and staff ,enriching the Minds of some excellent students.Parent Review9y ago3 Reviews - Gillespie Park Elementary School

4/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThis is a fantastic story of school making a difference in its community. We support the students, teachers, and administration, who strive to better the lives of the students both in school, and in their home life regardless of the difficulties. I urge other leaders in the community to support the programs that have been started including providing uniforms, supporting the reading incentive program, providing athletic equipment, and supplying food for the week end backpack program.Other Review12y ago5 Reviews - Vandalia Christian School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI currently have one child attending this school now. There have been 2 child predators in the history of this school so far I’ve learned and it’s frightening. Staff and faculty brush concerns from parents under the rug from myself and those I know. Whether they have been concerns about the quality of education, inappropriateness of teachers around them and their behavior, bullying, lack of consistent communication with parents regarding all of these things as well. The school admin have their favorites and if you are not one, what you say goes in one ear and out the other.Rampant bullying and racism here from MANY of the students beginning in elementary all the way up to upper grades. High turnover for staff they can NEVER seem to keep year to year… often hiring very obviously unqualified people. There have been reports in the last few years alone of lower grade teachers mistreating children as well as “going off” on children in cursing fits because they cannot hold their temper. Do not recommend, if it wasn’t for the fact the year is almost over and I don’t intend to uproot my child now, we wouldn’t be here. Will not return!Parent Review2mo ago19 Reviews
