We love our experience at William Byrne. Our son is in 2nd grade and our daughter will begin Kindergarten in the fall. The teachers and staff are warm, supportive, and kind, and the families are wonderful.Before the pandemic, we hosted fantastic community events, including Taste of Byrne - a potluck where every family gets to bring a dish from their heritage or home. It was truly incredible to see so many dishes from around the globe. I'm grateful our kiddos have friends and classmates with such diverse stories, backgrounds, and cultures.There are a lot of great schools in the South Metro, but it's hard to beat a neighborhood school experience - our kids play with neighbors and classmates in the evenings and on the weekends, and kids run through the yards and neighborhood, which I love.The level of family and community involvement here is astounding, too. Parents are quick to volunteer for events, the PTO, etc. Our son is thriving and looks forward to school every day. I really can't recommend this school and district more.

Hope to see some updated reviews. Left this school and open enrolled to a different district. This school has great teachers but lacks leadership from admin and the wider district.

I attended Oak Ridge more than 30 years ago and had a great experience. Now, as a parent of two children at the school, I’m happy to say our family is having that same great experience today.I know Oak Ridge sometimes gets a bad reputation because its standardized test scores are below the state average. But test scores alone simply do not tell the full story of a school. There are many factors that influence those numbers that have little to do with the quality of the teachers, staff, or curriculum, and I think that’s important for parents to understand when evaluating any school.Both of my children consistently score well into the 90th percentile on standardized testing, and they are thriving at Oak Ridge. While they may be ahead of some of their peers academically, we have never felt like they are being held back or aren't being challenged. The school has done a great job recognizing where each child is academically and creating individualized plans that continue to push them forward.More importantly, my kids genuinely enjoy going to school. They like their teachers, feel comfortable with the staff, and are excited to learn. As a parent, it’s been reassuring to see teachers who know my children as individuals rather than simply teaching everyone at the same level.I experienced Oak Ridge first as a student and now, decades later, as a parent. From both perspectives, I have a lot of appreciation for this school and the people who work there. I would encourage prospective parents not to judge Oak Ridge—or any school—solely by a number on a website. Visit the school, meet the teachers and staff, and see what the environment is actually like. Our experience has been overwhelmingly positive, and I’m very glad my kids are here.
