Not a good experience even for the "average" student.Parent Review8y ago24 Reviews - Oaklands Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageThe principal who's name is Jewel Preston lost her mind talking to me like I'm a kid and I'm older than her. I came to get my kid at 1:30 which is 15 minutes before they get out and she had the nerve to tell me I can't get him until school is over. In the past I picked him up 3 times at that same time. I was talking to another staff member about am I able to get my son if it's an emergency by then it was only 2 minutes of school left then Preston the principal jumped in my conversation and raised her voice telling me I don't have any emergency and she's right I because I never said I did I was just asking a question. She started raising her voice and being rude when I kindly told her I was not talking to her. She told me to get my son when school is out and slammed the front door in my face. Now if she talks to a parent like that, imagine how she treats the kids. You can't let stuff like that go which I'm not. Don't even bother talking to the superintendent because most likely they're buddies. You have to go over him or her to get results.;3Parent Review3y ago12 Reviews - Vansville Elementary School

3/10GreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageGreat staff which exhibits great effort everyday! You can always see teachers going above and beyond here to help your child at this school. I have NO idea why there are not better ratings for this school. Though I do realize we live in a world of inhumane individuals who prejudge based on "Demographics", don't let ratings and reviews fool you. This is a great place for kids, good area and bustling out the seams with excellent care & support for kids and parents. I took my son out of a higher-rated school because they had difficulties and haven't been happier!Parent Review7mo ago17 Reviews - Faith Baptist Christian School

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageI have enjoyed having my children at Faith Baptist. It would be difficult to find another school with teachers as loving and giving to their students as the Faith faculty and staff. The class sizes are small, and the school is having financial troubles, but the love of God shines through. If you are looking for a christian education for your children, I would definitely recommend Faith. If you have a heart for christian education, I would consider donating your time and money to this school. It would be a shame to see this school close due to lack of finances and low enrollment.Parent Review13y ago7 Reviews - First Baptist School Of Laurel

NAGreatSchools RatingParent Rating AverageMy child has been in this school for two years. We have had excellent communication with the teachers, we have been able to set up conferences with our child's teacher, we have been able to recieve updates on her progress in the class and the progress of the class in general. So far each year the teachers have been great at communicating and answering questions via phone call, in person, email, or throuh the ClassDojo app. The homework and classwork she has brought home has always come back with feedback from the teacher. Also the results we received in the mail from the standardized test that were taken make me confident in the education she has received. On top of that I really appreciate the level of Christian education incorporated in the classes as well. The student teacher ratio is perfect for the students to get the support they need from the teacher. It is quite different than the 1:26 ratio at our local public school. I have seen some poor reviews online and I can't speak on every grade level or every teacher but so far we have loved our Christian Academy experience. From Academics, Extracurricular Activities, and Christian education it has been a great experience so far.Parent Review2y ago24 Reviews
